  1. Happy hollidays folks,

     

    Yeah it was a bit silent here but but I'm not dead. Here are some teaserpics  from my Metalforce Cruiser

     

    the Avorion version of the Metalforce is a midsized (9-10slots) agile (compared to other F.o.I. builds) Cruiser designed for aggresive assaults and the fast respond against enemy attacks.

  2. I want to bring my own opinion on the Audaces and her sistership.

     

    First I like the top and down view, it looks agressiv, it has profile, its something to remember.

     

    But I dont like the Broadside view,

    The enginepods are way to large they cover anything of the ship that is interesting without being interesting enough on their own.

    I would advise to shrink the outer enginepods or at least put some stripes on the sides or some ornaments. Or you build some turret emplacements on the sides.

    Also the thrusters look a bit cheap, give them some depth so they dosent look like old TV screens.

     

    Its just what I think you could improve.

     

  3. Hi Folks,

     

    I want to presentate my little redesign project: The Metalforce Reborn

     

     

    Frist some words to the original:

     

    The original Metalforce was builded in Starmade (still not finished, hull only), designed as a large escort/Interceptor ship.

    The shape was roughly based on the Tiger Class frigate from X3, my personal tribute to this ship.

    It controlls the battlefield with incredible firepower, exelent manuverbillity for a ship of her size, her job was to to prevent convoys or battlegroups to be flanked, also an exellent blockaderunner and assault ship. She crushes through enemy lines with the force of an small fleet.

    The turretlayout encourages frontal assaults turther improved by four Torpedotubes.

    The design features typical schematas of F.o.I. like heavy armorplates, the red glowing Intakes, relative large Turrets, the blue glowing exposed Generatorparts, exposed pipes, tanks and scafholds. And design clues that are not so commen in the F.o.I. lineup like the cuved broadsides and the winged aftfin.

    Now some words about the redesign:

     

    While the original was nearly a titan in size and mass (even without systems), the new one will be match somewhere betwin a frigate and a cruiser but thats not final. I definly will not rebuild the ship exatly witch has multiple reasons:

    1. Starmade and Avorion have very different building systems, while Avorion offers me exellent curving through the abillity of scaling the blocks, Starmade offers me way better(easier) detailing especialy in terms of turret design (some of my Starmade turrets have more blocks than all my Avorion ships together).

    2. I hate replica building or did I look like a 3D printer? For me there is a difference betwin getting inspired by someonce else work to make something own and just copy someone others work.

    Grungnir-Class Railsniper/Shipyard Hybride(WiP)

    It carry two Godspear Cannons plus larger spinemounted Railgun.

    I lost a month of progress on this one after a hackerattack on the build server where I was building.

  5. Hi,

     

    I'm Cpt. Metalhead or madman_captain,

    I found Avorion 1 or two years ago while I'm searched for an alternative for the X series cause I'm a big X fan but I always wanted my my really own unique ship (something the X series never really could provide for me plus I cant make mods or use a propper 3D programm).

     

    So I searched for games with shipdesign focus and the first one was Starmade, but the current developmend state of Starmade make it only good for designing ships. Then I found Avorion witch make really fun to play but I dosent liked it that couldnt design your own turrets so after some time I went back to Starmade.

    Now with the recent turret building update I'm back to build glorious ships with awesome turrets (Ok I personally could need more than 250 blocks for my turrets but hey, I take what I get).

  6. Woah :o ! Such wonderful detailing while keeping a simple appearance :) ! Is it a texture mod to make the hull so... matte ?

    (And those are really fierce ships, they are full of hardpoints~)

     

    This are ships I designed in Starmade. I currently try to rebuild one of my other ships from there in Avorion.

    Was just a exsample for tri hulled ships.

     

    btw this are just small ships, the real beautys are the big once.

    I made three sets of turrets (plus PD):

     

    Heavy Turrets (10sized)

    Design Philosophy:

    Without doubt the mainguns of large ships.

    Thouse turrets are central parts of the ship, their emplacements are major parts of the superstructure.

    They so large that they define the shape of even the largest ships.

    Offensive assult and artillery dutys.

     

    Medium Turrets (3.5sized)

    Design Philosophy:

    Mainturrets on medium and small ships or secondarys on large ships.

    Designed as stand alone weaponsystems.

    Less affecting the shape of the ship, can be mounted nearly everywhere on large and medium ships.

    Looks best when placed on broadsides of large ships as large secondary araments.

    Midrange offensive or defensive dutys.

     

    Small Turrets (1.5sized)

    Design Philosophy:

    Best used in numbers as part of larger weaponsystems on broadsides.

    Easily to place on all kinds of ships. Looks best when placed in groups.

  8. Hello,

     

    And to introduce myself I'm Cpt.Madman or madman_captain. I'm  a big sci-fi fan and my favourite franchises are Warhammer 40k, X3, Fractured Space and Star Wars. I played a lot Starmade in the past and want to expand to Avorion for more crazy builds.

     

    My Buildstyle is mostly a mix out of industrial and 20th century naval design, means exposed maschinery, pipes, tanks and scafholds surrounded by massive armorplates and large warship/tank styled Turrets. My ships tend to be way to large, clunky and ineffective and I know that but in the first way I want to design ships for fun and as long my builds can invade NPC territory without problems I'm fine with it.

    Heavy armored and armed this Warship is a force on their own. Capable of bring their entire heavy arsenal for frontal assult

    or charge into a enemy fleet and unleash havoc in enemy lines. Good acceleration and break caracteristics and strong Point defence.
