It would be great if i could create a way to make supply chains work either though a ship on an automated route or some kind of connection (visibility optional).
example 1: if i have an ore mine and a steel factory, id like to be able to move the ore into the factory automatically.
example 2: If i add another steel factory to example one and a ammunition factory have one (or both) of the steel factories supply the ammo factory.
example 3: If the ammo factory needs additional resources either create a route to buy the additional resources or better be able to request the resources be filled by npc ships.
I know that example 3 happens today but unless your in a system with a gate the deliver is unpredictable and infrequent thus unreliable.
this could extend the games life span considerably. I know I played the X games for ages using similar scenarios.

Ahh that makes sense - well kind of but I found the directory and have installed the files. no errors yet but I havent checked to see if i can move an astroid or if my factories are running. Ill report back when I do.
my path was: / home / avorion / serverfiles / data /

Has anyone been able to get this to run on a Linux server, if so can you PM me how you did it? Thanks!
Did you try it and got an error?
-->pls send me an private message with a link to the logfile.
If not: everyone who has tried (and succeded or failed -yes either) pls send me such a logfile.
I still didn't get any logfile from any linux users. And I don't want to declare my mod stable before i had a glance at such a log. Just to make sure it works as intended.
I didn't try to install as the directory structure doesn't match up.
My directory structure is / home / avorion / .avorion / galaxies / GalaxyName / with factions, players, sectors as directories under GalaxyName.

I am really enjoying the switch to this ship, though going from a much smaller ship to a bigger one like this was a PITA at first. Is there a trick to hiring all the people you need?
Balance: Docking/interaction proximity based on mass of ship

I second this. Large ships can be very tedious and sometimes you cant see the dock. I notice the npc pilots have the same issue they take out docks frequently. NPCs crunch the docks on my factories 2 out 5 times or more often.
Automated docking would be awesome as would auto load unload via drones(fighters).
