  1. Since the suggestion is similar to mine I'll just agree with your suggestion. And since it's smaller, I do hope it can slip in to a lesser update. :)

I mean the icon here is already a perfect spot for faction insignia.

While we're at this, the color on the faction list should be colors that represent faction's color instead of our relationship with them. Or make it toggleable like in the Galaxy Map view.

  2. This is a screenshot from my game.

As you can see, it's extremely hard to see the icons for stations in this screenshot. You might notice this if you're playing in large monitors like I am.

An option to allow us resize/scale icons would be extremely helpful.

By this I mean ONLY the icons, because I'm fine with the other UI elements. We already have the option to scale it. Only the icons are too small. Icon scaling should be separate from UI scaling.

  3. AI factions should have their own identity just like our player-created alliances have identity. Nothing too complex, simply: faction colors, faction symbols, and perhaps character portraits for the leader just like Captain update in 2.0 (or maybe not, for more roleplay potential).

Anyway, the most important part should be the color and symbols. This is important to distuingish one faction from another, particularly because of their unusual, difficult to pronounce names. Letting them have other kind of identity should make the factions memorable and distinguishable.

This identity should be shown not only in Diplomacy menu, but also in Galaxy Map menu. I created a mockup based on the mod Galaxy Map QoL.

There should be a toggleable button (both in Galaxy Map and Diplomacy menu) that could toggle whether player wants to show faction color based on their relationship to players (hostile, ally, etc), or basd on their unique faction identity (color).

In addition to that, in Galaxy Map, areas controlled by factions will display their logo/symbol. Areas that are not connected to each other should have separate smaller symbols per areas, while large areas should have larger symbols.

This should work great with other suggestions like these:

  4. Nice suggestion!

I only want to add a little bit of  my suggestion: allow AI factions to declare war and conquer each other without our intervention. We could just do something else while watching control of certain sectors organically shift to other factions. It's like the game Mount & Blade.

The aim is similar: galactic conquest format which would have to involve more elaborate conflict between the AI empires.

In joining with an existing empire this would allow the player enough active sectors to have commercial ships and several fleets to engage other empires.  A system allowing players to suggest target sectors to the AI empire would help direct the conflict.

This point would also fit nicely with other suggestions posted here: allow privateering/doing mercenary work for AI factions. So you don't have to put your loyalty to the faction.

This is effectively the already-upvoted space opera suggestion, isn't it?

Oh neat, I wasn't aware of that thread due to the name!

It seems to be a little bit different that the suggestion does not emphasize AI factions competing for territories themselves, but my suggestion could fit easily into that.

Certainly sounds like it. Could you link to that post?

    Should be this one!

It would also make conquering the universe a hassle, as opposed to just a system-by-system grind, because the AI would try to take their sectors back and potentially band together against you.

It would make boarding a lot more of an attractive option, considering how many ships you'd need just to hold onto sectors! 😄

Yes indeed, it would also make allying with certain factions more beneficial. Pick stronger factions and choose the right one for your bumper. :classic_rolleyes:

  7. Coming from Mount & Blade where the game world goes on with or without us, seeing factions declaring war and conquering each other is always fun. We could just do something else while watching control of certain sectors shift to other factions.

This should allow a more dynamic world where it feels like a breathing, living universe.

Would be nice to have diplomacy options (and sabotages/manipulation) as well.

  8. Hi devs, I have two suggestions (hopefully small) in relation to ship building. This is related to my experience while building.

    1. Split blocks - since we can merge blocks already, it would be extremely helpful to be able to split blocks. Especially for blocks in the inner part of our ship. Perhaps the tool to split blocks can give us a scale, into how many parts the blocks we want to split, or perhaps we can have a cutting/slicing tool to slice the block into several blocks we want (like a "Select Area" tool).

    2. See through blocks - this is related to my first suggestion. This usually happens after I laid out my energy generator, cargo bay, etc, and add some stuff outside. After adding some other stuff, I realize I need more energy, so I'd like to modify what's on the inner part of my ship. Maybe split the cargo bay and make it into energy generator. This would be much easier if I can see-through the outer parts of the block, and add more blocks inside. So I can delete some unnecessary blocks inside, and add new ones/rearrange the shape.

    Thanks for the consideration!
