  1. Firepower importance is invertly proportional to the size of your shields.. so it varies.

     

    I had 43k omicron when I beat the last boss and 230k base shields... I had a shield booster equipped that took me to 700kish and a +12% regen too. It was a loooong fight. Wish I had more shields and dps but it was sufficient.

     

    I started a new game... I'm now, through a retarded loophole in turret factories, at a little over 1 million omicron.

  2. If you saw a coal production factory.. please share how it was named, because right now every source i check, including player constructed factories, there is nothing producing coal in existence. Apart from tradeposts, which just have some finite stock of it sometimes.

     

    UPD. Checked game files (productionsindex.lua): nothing i see there can produce coal. Maybe you saw a lucky trading post?

     

    Umm maybe I remember wrong, I'd trust the files more than my memories but I'm pretty sure I saw one. Maybe I mixed it with something else.. Carbon maybe?

  3. There is already a warning in yellow on the right but it's easy to miss! Imho one of those black message screens like we get sometimes would work (like when you get intercepted with illegal goods), like 30 secs... And maybe add something to stop auto salvagers / fighters / captained ships when it runs out.

  4. I beat the boss without even knowing about that thing... I can help with the strategy. There are two phases, first is shields, second is hull. They are different because shields can only be taken down 10% per wave.. The trick is to kill all adds then take down 10% shields... Rince and repeat. Feel free to fly away and regen shields if it gets too hard.

     

    The hull phase is a bit different because the hull regens and it regens annoyingly fast. The twist here is that you don't need to kill the adds like the shield phase.. what I did was kill all but one add and then shot it's guns... And the boss' guns... And then I just worked on the boss without issues other than waves of invaders.

     

    I had 250k shields (and an upgrade to double it) and a 12% shield regen mod and approx 43k firepower when I beat it. Took over an hour...

  5. Not sure I understand the problem.. the chat log starts warning you at 2 minutes and spams messages at 1 min, 30 secs, 20 secs and 10 secs. The 20 sec message shows up as a big yellow warning on the right side of the monitor, it's hard to miss unless you are AFK salvaging or something...

     

    The one thing I would change though is penalty from salvaging/damaging attacking ships in those sectors... If my license ends and I fight off a wave of pirates, I get like 1200 rep boost from each kill but the overkill damage the pirates get can quickly remove 4-5x that. IMHO i killed it I should be able to salvage it, I'm saving your crappy empire, show some respect :P

  6. One thing I learned last night is that thruster and engine calculations take your current crew assignment in consideration when calculating the new stats. I was building a new ship (no crew yet) and I was banging my head at how pathetic my engines were scaling until I realized this.. ended up with crazy speed becsuse I added too much lol.

  7. These salvage fields when you need to pay for the license arn't worth the money.

     

    Wow, this is so untrue. If you do it right you can easily get 3-400k of ore in an hour in those systems. There is no way in hell you can get that much fghting random invaders... Also most of these will have lower tier materials...

     

    Salvage yards are gold mines....
