  1. Okay, so... Here's the Skinny.

    I cranked up my own server for our Gaming group. Found this Monster here in the forums. Just off of the looks alone, I downloaded the XML. Jacked it up with some upgrades and a few turrets. It was originally too large for my play style, so I found the Seven Parsec site where you can scale your ship, either up or down.

    Dropped this beast to 50% and re-did the XML install. NOW!!! It is a GOD! I sheared off the top half of the rear box area. and was going to Mirror/flip the thing to have essentially a double hull, one top, one bottom. Joined at the box area. Server didn't like that at all. TOO MANY BOXES!!! LMFAO. Crashed my own server trying to do that.

     

    It is fast, maneuverable and effective. Oh, and did I mention.... GORGEOUS!

     

    Excellent to hear. Destiny is actually a textbook perfect veseel to make in avorion, coz turrets and stuff.

     

    It's too bad we don't get fixed, spinal hull centric beam weapons, my next project really would benefit from this.

  2. Wow, this is absolutely stunning.  As far as I can tell, 100% accurate.  If it weren't for the texture differences and the lighting, I'd almost swear it was a screenshot from the show.  How long did this beautiful monstrosity take you to build?

    I tried subscribing to the source material as best as I could, same for the colours, if u guys can match the colours better, be my guest and don't forget to share pics ;)

     

    It took around 50-60 hours to make, so one week roughly, I didn't really record how long I took.

     

    Anyway, with me on break, time for the next ship guys ;)

  3. never seen it brought up before BUT defiantly needed!

     

    As a builder I have encountered this problem multiple times but it only happens if you have scaled your mesh otherwise the scale step system makes it easy to match every joint.

     

    So the better fix might be to fix the scaling making incorrect steps

     

    Even if you perfectly remain on 0.05 the entire build you still eventually encounter this, where they don't line up, because of the nature of curves do not follow the grid system, basically, Shapes lengths and widths correctly follow the scaling system and remain flush, but once you try and implement differing angles (which are used in curves) the blocks then start to unalign with each other.

  4. Only 700 crew? for something 3-4km long? What, my ship requires something of the 1000 crew and its not that big (I must be doing something wrong)

     

    I made a mistake, it's probably 2 thousand crew. I haven't even filled the inside yet.

    I plan to make more designs, whilst improving on existing designs, From user suggestions.

    About 20 thousand blocks. Still works fine, but it will take ages to fill it up with crew lol, there's probably a ton of optimization I could do to bring that number all the way down to 15 k blocks.

    Have fun! The interior is still mostly hollow but I think i've justified it with a very powerful shield so there's still room for you guys to improve it.

     

    would take around 2000 crew to run it, so maby i'll scale it smaller, Atm I think it is 3 or 4 kilometers long.

Hi guys, Sometimes I don't bother with F12 screenshot system and like to use print screen for most of my games and then just Ctrl+V into Imgur, as it's really quick and simple; However I have come across an issue specifically regarding Avorion; When i do this, It doesn't print screen an image of the game, and the view changes, Even when i'm in the designer and ship is immobile, The camera is still and I carefully alt tab without moving the view into imgur. The processed image then shows something completely different.

     

    Anyone else getting this? I've only ever encountered it in Avorion, any other game that doesn't support it would just display a blank screen.

  9. The idear is like I said nice. But it's a block game with no round blocks. I am OK with that.

    The problem with that effects is that they need could power and you get later hit so massive that you most times have only a stream of project tiles.

    Maybe you find a moder that can make this or even make it self.

     

    you can make round shapes overall you know? nothing needs to be blocky if you don't want it to, the shields can follow the angles, like corner blocks.

  10. Hi I think the idear is not bad. But it would be more nice to have the color based on enemy's weapon material and type. Green laser gives a green Corona on shield when hit etc.

     

    hi, Sorry i updated my OP with some more information and more suggestions, I like your idea and I think it would incorporate well with my other suggestion about local shield "corora" effects, Say, have shield be colour X (either custom or material colour) getting struck with weapon Y, Showing effect Z in specific location?

  11. High guys and girls, I think this would be awesome if you could make shield colour customizable OR determine the shield colour depending on the material used to make the shield generator.

     

    Some other suggestions: Make shields more round?

     

    Make shields show effects like when getting struck by projectiles, it shows the shield "3D" effect in that particular area, instead of the entire ship.
