  1. Only changing the number in settings won't help too much. Because what we need to counter it is just to build an even bigger ship.

AI ships don't use tactics and don't adjust their engage distance even they are using long range weapons. They won't group up before engaging. They won't focus fire.

It's more of an AI re-design issue other than numbers changing. Unless we limited ourselves in some ways, otherwise the current AI ships are never a challenge.

  2. Actually I believe at the moment the problem is not about multiplayer or not. It's more between PvP and PvE.

The style of Avorion is very good for multiplayer. However similar to other games, multiplayer game play will involve the choice of PvP which will lead to a whole new level of complaints and balance issues.

No one like to see everything they set up get destroyed after a day which has a very high chance to occur in multiplayer game. The insurance system is one thing to counter the total loss of the above situation. But is it really necessary to force ourselves to experience it over and over again? It's a very subjective topic.

For myself, if the Dev want to focus on multiplayer, I'm fine as long as they don't remove the single player game mode.

  3. So people would just build cubes with loads of spikes on them? Fractal borg cubes are just as boring IMO.

I guess the devs have to decide if they want the game to be focused on engineering, where the practical design of the ship is king, or instead to focus on a simplified model that gives players freedom to build cool-looking ships without having to worry too much about the laws of physics.

    Totally agree to this.

If the game focus on building practical, everything will look like a ball or a cube. There are no need for all other difference shapes of cubes. In fact no need to build anymore. It all comes down to who has a bigger cube wins.

I have been playing another game that get across the same argument. The developer try to cater both styles, practical and freedom builds. Updates after updates, the gaming environment getting worse and worse.

Lucky Avorion does not have this problem and hope this problem will not arise in future.
