  1. I'm looking to build some stat trackers and the like.

    I was hoping that the server could possibly serve up an endpoint that spits out general information, like player respurce count, explored sector information, etc.

     

    I'd like to be able to hit it with a web application to store info and develop an easy way to find someone with what you need. 500 iron short? Look at the guy with 50,000 and see if you can't trade him some credits for it.

     

    Endpoint suggestions:

     

    GetPlayers()

    Gets all players' names and corresponding ids.

     

    GetPlayer(id)

    Gets a player's resource count and current ship id. Location as well, and ids for fleet.

     

    GetShip(id)

    Gets a ship's stats, cargo, location, and shield/hull status.

     

    GetSector(x,y)

    Gets a sector's asteroid count, last ships seen, mostly map info given in game.

    If the sector has not been generated, spit out an error saying so.

     

    GetFaction(name)

    Pulls a faction and their relations with each player.

    This may be better as a subset of data in getPlayer.

     

    If this would possibly create a shift in gameplay experience, you could add a flag to enable/disable the api.

     

  2. No matter how i build my ship, it always ends the same way.

    I crash into an asteroid.

    I crash into flying debris.

    "Hey, Chris, let me try this force turret on you, dunno what it does."

    *crash*

     

    Is there a way to build for impacts, or am i missing a seat belt upgrade?

     

    I understand there's a server setting to disable collisions, but that would cheapen the experience. I want to be able to go full speed and crush tiny vessels without exploding.

  3. Even if the building process takes a high level material, it would be neat to be able to develop our own warp gates. If we could make the size variable, cruisers might even be able to get through without losing a face plate.

     

    Best way i can think of is to add a warp gate block in xanion, ogonite, or avorion, found it as a station, and have a way to buy matching upgrades for the gates that say "warp upgrade a, b, az," etc.

     

    You might even be able to add your own travel tax on top of the base warp cost.

  4. Mostly figured it out.

    You need pilots for ships (hired specifically as pilots).

    My ship design didn't leave a large enough opening for drones. I built a new ship that left the hangars open to space on one side.

    Now i can deploy.

    Only qualm is that when i say "xanion miners, attack xanion rock", they just do backflips and sick loops. No mining.
