  1. Would be cool, definitely, but it's a hell of a lot of work, and there are plenty of tools that can do this really well. So I don't think it would be very high priority.

I'll look into it, if it's doable with not a lot of work it might find its way into the game some day.

  2. The chat window will get a complete internal rework as I switch to another input method than DirectInput. I'm pretty sure this will resolve this issue.

  3. Yeah the game has some slight problems with the scaling of huge amount of loot. When you get closer to the center the ships get bigger and thus the generation of the sectors takes more time. There's not much I can do about that, I'm afraid.

  4. Hard to tell ... I don't have too much logging in there, with the next version there should not be any problems. Can you describe the problem any further? does it happen when you jump into a specific sector or is it at random?

And the server doesn't handle being closed improperly very well... This could cause a corrupt world, yes.

  5. The logfile of the client would be of use here. But I don't know if it's worth discussing the issue if it is really caused by audio, as the current setup (directX) has already been replaced by openAL.

  6. I will not take any responsibility for any damage of any kind caused by third party tools. You download this stuff at your own risk. If it is truly malicious, it will be removed from the forum.

Posting .exe files in forums is usually not a good idea.

You should rather post the source maybe? And give people some instructions on how to compile it themselves?

  7. About save folder. May be add some option to change that? I wont play with my friend, but hi have Cyrillic user name on his PC and don't wont change it.

Which folder do you mean? There are multiple possibilities:

    • The folder of the galaxy of the dedicated multiplayer server
    • The folder of the galaxies of the singleplayer (or MP if your friends connect to you)
    • The folder of the settings (same as singleplayer galaxies folder)

Which one would you like to be able to change? Because the dedicated MP galaxy folder is not fixed. You can put this one whereever you want.

Anyway, I'll add unicode support (to support cyrillic and other letters) as soon as possible.

  8. Occasionally you'll notice your projectile weapons quit firing or if your're mining the visual que (icons) doesnt show up. This includes the host player.

This generally happens for about 1 - 5 seconds at a time.

That's when it saves. It's not asynchrone yet.

Also if a player disconnects thru a timeout the entire server suffers thru one of these lag spikes for an infinite amount of time. A full server restart is required.

Now that's new, I will look into it. Thank you for taking the time to report this!

  9. Wow this is hilarious :D

Uh, well but there is a bug visible though; The hull should not be able to have more than 100%.

This is a known and already fixed issue. So I guess your ship might get 'nerfed' with one of the upcoming patches. As you are at ~1000% you can assume that your real HP are around 30k, not 300k.

  10. Improved building mechanics: player able to point a "center of mass" (or "axis of rotation" if you want). For now this center considered as last remaining block, if I quite understand...

That's currently the ship root block, yes. I think I will change it to the actual center of mass.

Standard scale of blocks: Liked that I could choose the proportions of the block freely. But maybe it's wise to add some typical block scales? Only a few, for example 1x1, 2x2, 3x3... and so on. Will be useful for construction accurate things.

I thought of a grid for the block size when you scale it. I think that'd do the job?

Space graveyards: already seen some sectors with wreckages... But if we put more of them? Make some sectors with LOTS of debrises (like any asteroid field, but consist of wreckage). I think it would look pretty cool.

It would be, yes. It's a little more complicated than the asteroids, as those are currently indestructible and wreckages are not. This has to do with rendering optimizations. Also, wreckages can be salvaged - And you get a hell of a lot more out of them then out of asteroids, so it could be a balancing issue.

Megaliths: giant structures, scattered around the galaxy. Perhaps no practical purpose. Just to give atmosphere.

    Yup, why not?

    Bridge block

I guess positioning the camera for the corresponding block could be difficult - other than that it would be possible.

Player's fleet: It would be useful to add the ability to allied ships to follow the player. For now, new constructed ships anchored to sector with shipyard, where they were built.

That's a feature to come, haven't had time for it yet.

Classes: classify all the ships by tonnage/hull

I had something similar in mind. There are already categories, that can be assigned by scripts. But those are mostly meant for types of ships/stations, like shipyards, transporters etc.

Overall those are quite easy to implement features, I think they might one day find their way into the game!
