  1. I am sorry to say this, but I am running out of options :(

I guess you will have to wait for the next patch to see if there are some more improvements for intel gpus.

One thing you might be able to do, to help with that process, is to launch the game with a special parameter.

If you open the games properties in Steam there is a button called "Set launch options" (second from the bottom, not counting the close button).

Then enter "-t all" into the field that has opened, without the quotes. Hit ok and launch the game. This should add some more information to the logs which might be useful for the dev. It would be great if you could then add the new log here :)

Afterwards you should remove the "-t all" again, so it won't blow up the file sizes of the logs in the future.

  2. It seems that there are still some issues with the intel hd 3000 graphics as far as I can see from the logs. The build you are playing on should have better support for those, but there might be some issues left.

Do you use windows 7 64-bit? If that is the case you could try to install the 64-bit driver from here and check if that works. If you currently have the 64-bit drivers, then I might have misread that from the logs.

  3. I am very sure that this won't happen in the foreseeable future.

The thing is, that the engine is limited in its capabilities in this regard. If you look at your ship xmls you will see an attribute "look" and an attribute "up" for each block. They determine the rotation of the block.  Think of the values as sides of a cuboid which surround the block. Fixing two sides to certain positions precisely determines the rotation.

Changing this system would very likely require a very significant amount of work and time.

But in the end it's something only koonschi will know for certain.

  4. What did the little 7.4 MB patch do?

Everything that's posted in the patch logs.

Your likely tracking NPC docks don't repair automatically overtime, do you know when you will be updating that in a patch?  For example, NPC crashes into a dock, but dock is not attacked for X number of minutes it repairs.

Also, do you allow others to join testing servers?

Repairing docks is implemented, see link below and you should be able to join the test servers using the server browser if they are up and running and if you are on the correct version.

On another note: I am now closing this thread to avoid confusion about the most recent version. You can find the current patch notes here

  5. There will be an update in the next few days on the stable channel. You can read the patch notes in the news section. It significantly alters the momentum and introduces new blocks. So you will see some changes soon.

  6. This is a common problem with the Intel HD graphics. If you do not have a dedicated graphics card, then you are probably out of luck at the moment. See the quote from the dev below:

We're currently working on getting the game to run on Intel hardware. The problem is that lots of Intel GPUs claim to support OpenGL 3.0 but are lacking important functionality, so we're trying to support as many as we can, but it's hard to catch all the quirks.

Your model is very likely one of those where some of the functionality is missing :(

  7. This is a common problem with the Intel HD graphics. If you have a dedicated graphics card in your laptop you should try to enable that in the control panel of that gpu. You can find instructions in the FAQ, which is linked in my signature.

  8. Starting a new game is not necessary. You won't be able to use a galaxy from the beta in the current stable version, though. So if you open an old one, it will be converted to a newer version. If you decide to go back to the stable version afterwards it will no longer load.

You can always make a backup, just be be sure. The files are located at %appdata%/Avorion.
