  1. Of course I know about and used Google Translate, but that would defeat the purpose of having English as the main language over here. If everyone would only post in their native language, then everything would be a mess. And rather than having everyone use google translate it is highly more efficient to give the translation directly as the original poster.

As to the question: You will have to use links. Using %appdata% is a best practice from Microsoft and thus used by koonschi currently. I also think that I have read something about koonschi thinking about alternatives. I might not remember that correctly, though.

  2. Hi, it seems you are using a laptop with the intel integrated gpu. It is known that they are often not working as expected.

There might be a way to get you playing, though. If your laptop also has a Nvidia (or AMD) GPU, then you should be able to use that instead. This would be for example Nvidia GeForce GT 630M.

If your laptop has this than you can follow the instructions from the FAQ, which is linked in my signature, to assign Avorion to your GPU.

  3. No, but there have been suggestions for improving the inventory system, maybe you want to add something to them. You can look through the suggestions section if you want or try to use the search function. The search function is unfortunately not very reliable, though.

  4. There is no github repository for this, you will have to use the beta branch on steam.

Here are the steps again, in case you might have missed a step:

    1. Go to your Library and right-click on Avorion

    2. Select Properties from the list which shows up (last entry)

    3. In the window which opened, select the tab with the name "Betas"

    4. From the dropdown-menu below the line "Select the beta...", you have to choose the entry "beta - Newest changes, Beta"

Then you can close the window again and steam should start to download the beta update.

  5. This is very likely something only koonschi can fix, but I think he is currently at GDC. You might have to wait for a few days and see if he is able to get to this issue in that time.

Do you have the same issue if you play a singleplayer galaxy or if you play on another server? If that is not the case then it is possible that this might be an issue related to your friends server instance.

This information might help to find the cause for this issue.

If it also happens in singleplayer, you could update to the beta version and start a new galaxy to test if the issue remains. If it doesn't, then its likely fixed and will be in the next patch. I would not recommend to use an old single player galaxy, as they beta galaxies are not compatible with the stable version.

  6. You should add some logs to your post, LogicSocket. More information is always a good thing :)

    And/or do this:

Please try to rerun the server with the additional command "-t all" and send the resulting client log and galaxy (the whole directory would be best) to support@avorion.net.

  7. Merged and moved topics about the MAD satellites. I have quoted koonschi's reply below, to bump it again.

Please post the server logs of the sessions when that happens. Best would be to start a session, try to provoke the lab, and when it doesn't work after 5 tries post the logs. Same for the hidden mass signature sectors. Oh and make sure with TAB that they're actually empty.

  8. i spend hours searching for satellites with dont seem to exists.

If you are playing the beta version then this might be a bug. There were some others who have also reported this.

the smuggler gives me a destination behind the barrier every time.

There is a smuggler at every smuggling station. Just jump away from the center for some sectors. The destination will be generated towards the center at a certain distance. If your distance to the rift around the center is bigger than that, then the destination will be reachable by you.

I can't tell you more about the sector with the asteroids, unfortunately.

  9. Flash is very certainly a problem. I have to say I hate it with a passion and I won't install it anywhere any more. Flash had its time but that is gone now.

I don't want to derail too much, but it's a lot more likely that I would cast a vote here ;)

You should see a 'Add Poll' button next to the reply button, which would allow you to add it to this post

  10. Here we go:

Gatt, this is your first and last warning. If you don't stop with the insults or if you start spamming you will not be welcome here any more.

You most certainly have the right to your opinion on the topic, but it is not your decision which direction the development of the game will take. This is the decision of Koonschi and he has a vision of what he wants the game to become. In that he will most certainly know how he thinks about the PvP/PvE discussion and balancing in general. Trying to influence that through spamming is just a way to get your opinion discarded right away.

There is also no silencing of people who are not 'pro-pvp' as far as I can see. If you want, you can make suggestions on what you would like to see. There are a lot of discussions about AI and balancing of factory made weapons versus AI ships for example. Not to mention posts about difficulty 'scaling' from the outer regions to the core. Why not participate in those and let others discuss what they would like for some pvp aspect? Koonschi can read them all if he wants to and decide then whether he likes it.

My take on the whole PvP/PvE discussion is, that if there are a lot of players who want to play PvP then why shouldn't koonschi at least try to create some kind of balance? Again, his decision. But with the upcoming factions update this will imo certainly be an issue that he has to address. There are going to be wars between factions on some servers, as they are right now between AI factions. The wars between player factions will involve players fighting and there the PvP balancing issue comes into play.

Servers who want the most competitive PvP fights will use mods and their own balancing to achieve that goal. That's what is so great about this game. You can modify many things if you want them to be a bit different.

And if you don't like that a server encourages PvP gameplay then you can still go on another one. Just as you can do in Minecraft for example.

But there are probably also a lot of players who just play alone in singleplayer, just like I do most of the time. They will never have to battle another player and don't care about the PvP balancing. But they will care about balance of AI and that most likely also has to take place when balancing factions. So they (and I) are still likely going to profit from this in the end.

  11. Please don't waste posts pointing out that people on the internet are jerks.  Stick to the topic at hand.  Again, I'm just reading your posts as a neutral observer yet you two seem to be getting worked up over it.

Sage is right. Please don't let your emotions and commitment take the upper head over having a respectful discussion. If you don't agree with something that is totally fine, but don't make things personal. Just take a break and come back later with a cool head.

  12. From the beta patch notes:

Upcoming Features for the next patch

    • Creating groups of players so you can see where your friends are (This is not the Alliances update, groups are not alliances!)
    • RCON Interface for the server
    • Safe Sectors
    • Loading Screen Safety
    • Respawn Sector Change
    • Hotkeys for enabling/disabling energy systems

So we know that he is aware of the problem and has something in his mind to at least protect ships.
