  1. Beautiful! And fast!! My red one still missing its aft and some fine-tuning... and not even started Blue-1  :o

     

    Iron-Only makes doing such a big, winkled thingy quite a challenge, interesting build anyways...

    Always thought Red-1 being an ugly ship while Blue-1 with its thin neck is a parade example of how NOT to make it in a spacegame with collision-physics  :P But thats just my view, cant argue bout taste, no?  ;D

     

    @CptLewb Dont forget you can always NOT select any blocks and click the merge button to merge all the blocks that are able to do so on the whole ship at once! Careful here if you have size-dependant details, might br better to select all and deselct your detailwork first then!!

  2. If i where you, i wouldnt expect anything before christmas this year, otherwise you only will get frustrated... thats the aimed for release date, and everything until then is subject to change, sooner or later (more often later than sooner, true dat, but heh...)!

     

    And i gladly would wait for this specific upfdate for another four to six weeks considering all the stuff thats happening with it, hell, half the game gets restructured with being able to load multiple sectors at once alone!! Not mentioning anything from the Player-Alliances itself...

     

    @Devs Take your time! Do it good instead of feeling to get pushed!!!

    On a sidenote, you know why the "Upgrade to Ogonite" didnt worked in first place, yes? Gotta CTRL+V em first, then select material in dropdown menu... obvious if you did it some times, i know, but the only point i recogniced not straight clear in the vid... oh, and i could disagree on the 0.05 scaling topic, but thats a taste-thing i guess, and you cant argue about taste, no?  :P

  4. True dat, but this way you can more easily prevent... lets say, your galaxy invaded by a horde of gigantic di*** flying around anywhere, since you choosed the sets (or in your case, the bosses) you'd like to play with from the workshop yourself!

     

    for the thing with the generated bosses i definetly like the idea in general, but thinking of it i would suggest not to pre-equip them, but to let the same RNGesus do it who equips the current npcs.

    Just to ensure balance and prevent exploits, for example in the current game i would expect ALOT ones equipped with shield-penetrating railguns all over em, since they seem to be way to go for killing players (just can tell from what ive read here, only played Coop myself so far)...

     

    One the other hand: Putting the tools into the player's hands to make interesting fights like the AI Boss, some scripting knowledge provided, could result in some very exciting encounters...  ::)

    Edit: In the meantime i tried to workout some Hull improvements for the FX-42 Series, means shameless stealing design elements from others and adapt them for the still very blocky SE Hulls, especially notable here would be HAC and D.S.P.P.:

  6. yeah, only those who care for it will get it for now... nothing bad at that considering the EA status i think...

     

    and yes, support for custom made content is alrdy in the works, lemme quote from the some older Update-News:

  7. Do i get this right, i can assign multiple of my ships to groups, and then give those groups the known "Vanilla-AI" Orders, like Patrol or Escort, instead of clicking through each individual one?  :o

     

    Woow, definetly gonna watch this! Any chance you know the CODEA Software from the X Series? The Fleet Management itself opened a whole new Level of interacting with the enviroment, automated collecting Stuff, assign Scouts for Recon and Patrols protecting the Fleet, define Fire-Orders for bigger Frigates and Destroyers...

    Point is, the Game suddenly felt totally different from the "1 Ship with Fighterescort"-Philosophy you'd more or less automatically prefered before for simplicity... i'd expect the same happening here, ppl would go on their playthroughs very different from what they do now with a nice fleet management!!

  8. Another thing i guess worth noting:

     

    You all know this scene, try to allign a ramp on a corner block or similar diagonal side... it will always try to "allow you to place within the block, kinda overlap", which basically is a good thing to place stuff on said diagonal sides, but can really mess with my nerves sometimes when i try to "snap to edge"...

     

    ... until i found out the following: Rotate your camara so that you dont see said diagonal side but the side you want to place on... can sometimes be a bit tricky and need to zoom in very close, but it never again will try this overlap thingy with ya! NEVER AGIAN! \o/

     

    Oh, and yes, i know about the erratic "Adjust Blocksize"(?)-Checkbox, but i dont like it for being, well, erratic, always trying to snap to the faces i didnt mean, or come up with tiny, tiny decimals (which 2 hours later mess something up and allow me to rip of 3/4 of my last work to find where things went wrong...), maybe the Checkbox and me have conflicting views here, but thats ok, with time i figured out an own way...

    Option for Color is another great addition, just a bit confusing with the rgb-code compared to the predefined colors of Avorion itself... but you stated that above alrdy, so i guess thats nothing new for ya...

     

    another minor suggestion, would it be possible to get rid of the "79c43c3a23bf"-part on the Folders name? Not a big issue, but i have to update my Bookmark of the site for every update, as said, not a big thing, just a little QoL issue ^,.,^ maybe add a little .txt with version info instead?

     

    Love your tool anyways, Fox approved!

     

    EDIT: Oooooh, click the number, not the name! Ok, maybe add a note that you have to refresh with not-greyed attributes, is a little confusing first time, but quite clear&nice once you get it!

     

    Another idea i had: Would it help to make a "color-table-ship"? Like one block for every color, so you can import it into the tool and see how all the colors translate into RGB?

    Which would leave the user with ~350 premade Codes to choose from instead of a full RGB-Grid...

  10. sorry, but i have to disagree, taking away the total in the ressource update numbers would make a need to open up a menu every time to check how my balance had change, and that would decrease the clarity alot!

     

    I really like how its handled as it is now, nice and simply shown where it need to be shown, and i'd bet noone would complain if ppl where used to the new system from the beginning.

     

    And another sorry, but i cant support a toggle option before knowing how the freed up space in the HUD is used in the upcomming Updates (and i generally think personal adjustments like this should belong to the modding community)

  11. Are there any special requirements for /sethome to work?  I've used it early game (1 ship, no stations or asteroids built on yet) and when my 1 ship gets destroyed, I respawn in my drone waaaay back in the starting sector.

     

    This is on a server or in SP (double checked the install directions and made sure the scripts were in the right place).

     

    cant say if the said patch messed it up since i havent used it recently, but i know you gotta have a station in the sector, friendly or your own:

    Allows player to change home sector to current if friendly or own station is present. Usage: /sethome

    ...

    Taking requests? Would be cool if you could edit the blocks, like when i loaded my .xml i noticed 8 Hullblocks which i'd like to switch out against Hull without windows? Or to switch out Computerblocks against Hyperjumpblocks... just asking, this will proof useful alrdy as it is for anyone editing his .xmls frequently like me ^,.,^

  13. Tried again and nothing happens after selecting my .xml? I mean, like even no ressource-collums like on the screenshot above, simply the name appeared where "No File selected" was before...

     

    This time i followed the Link in the OP, selected "Download" on the left and then "Download repository"... extracted .rar file and opened index.htm with Firefox... anything obvious i'm missing?

     

    Oh, and thx, since i made a new install recently it was the only one in my shipfolder ^,.,^

  14. didnt showed all parts for me, maybe i did something wrong? pasted the content of "avtool.htm" into a new txtfile which i opened with Firefox, showed up so far all nice and i could browse for my ships .xml, but:

    As you can see, far more blocks, all the Shield-, Generator- and HyperCoreBlocks made of Xanion aswell as the Trinium Gyros are missing out... and im pretty sure it was over 1k Blocks when i finished the hull, so not all Hullblocks aswell i guess!?

     

    Otherwise i definetly like, bet alot would use such a tool until we get a similar function ingame!

  15. Hehe, thanks, but tbh, i just copied the templates that were on the original ships without further thinking about them, they just looked fitting :-D

    We had a longer talk about Nav Lights for spaceborne vessels on the SE Forums, funny how you used the exact same link to post :D

     

    Industry standard space navigation lights of green to starboard(right), red to port(left), 2 white to top (in line with direction of forward), yellow to bottom.

    Oh, and for the books: Added a list of the mods i use to main topic, after 2 fresh installations the intention is basically to gather them together nicely for me, but here we go aswell for any1 curious...

  17. @DerpSuper++  spent over an hour to find this article again (searching "GIF without" site:avorion.net on Google finally brought me back here, remembered the very inspiring "naked/clothed" picture...), you should post it on the "Tips for Ship Building Post" in the Userguides Subforum to be easier found!

    At least me came back to check it out a 2nd time, great read, lots of good hints!!

  18. Mayor Drawback due to technical difficulty... will take me some time to get back to the point i was, at least the here realeased ships are safe ^,.,^

    So to all the FX-4 Fans: Sorry, but Carrier and Battlecruiser want to be remade from scratch, might take a while...  :-[

     

    EDIT: Mainpost updated with Dads mighty fine Video of the so far released FX-4 Ships! tis so nice it made me shed a tear when watching the first time ^,.,^

     

    Another EDIT: "I'M BACK!" with a brand new rig, a fresh installed game and an empty ship folder... uhm, what? Fox' ship folder empty?? You know it, me know it, thats a total NOGO ^,.,^

    Expect stuff happening here sooner than later...
