  1. attempting to artificially institute a naming convention like this is pretty... hrm... futile in my opinion.

This isnt an attempt to pull the game to your own whim. It's a guide to help others get a basis on how ships are already classified and how to translate that into the game, thus giving the player an easier time naming their own ships based on their own choices. It's stated multiple times, the guide is merely to help those without an idea as to how to name their own ships.

  2. the definition you posted saying "more buff and heavier battleship" is the badly written action movie definition.

dreadnaughts are a sub(ie less than) battleship class, with a single calliber of main armament.

they are obsolete because armoured cruisers and pocket battleships where both superior concepts, and did the same job better than a dreadnought could.

I wrote that in order to make the concept more easily understandable. I didn't write the guide to make people sit down and think "what the hell does that mean?" The game itself doesn't follow the concept of heavy primary armament. It's just a big ship in-game, so I chose to follow the concept the devs written in. If they choose to change it, I will change it as well. As far as it being a subclass of battleship, that is clearly stated.

  3. Update: Herculean-Class Patrol Frigate

Bumping up patrol sizes and strength requires some sort of lead ship. The Herculean-Class fits the job well. With heavy armour and enough space for a multitude of weaponry, it can keep a sector's most devious criminals under wraps, and swat out those nasty alien visits.

  4. Welcome to ThunderLuck Designs!

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to ThunderLuck's Spacecraft Design Floor! Here at TL Designs, we construct various high-end vehicles, mostly appealing to the Law Enforcement branches of the galaxy. What better way to protect your assets than with a sleek & efficient design built by TLD? So far, TLD vehicles are only available in standard Government Issue Black and White or without colour and are only to be sold to government entities. Consumer versions will be available in the future, primarily in orange. (The Starter-Class Drone is a consumer good, available to everyone.)

    Dexterity-Class Light Frigate

Standard fire-support frigate, primarily equipped for defense against smaller enemy attackers. Fighter hangers provide small fighter protection, and added armour means slow speed and drift, however it will still get the job done. Primarily made of Ogonite (Exterior & Secondary Engines) and Avorion (Technical Interior & Primary Engine)

    Starter-Class Drone

Take your starting drone, and multiply it a size or two, and you get this thing. Basically serves no other purpose than what it was originally intended for. However, now you can now modify it to your personal liking, and give it AI commands. Purely made of iron, and is easy to upgrade to higher tiers, as there are very few parts.

    Conservator-Class Patrol Cutter

Based around the speed of an ancient era naval designation, "Cutter", it is built to the same ratio as the speed and small size of what a cutter would be in modern times. However, unable to reach unbelievably fast speeds without upgrades, it works well as a sector patrol vessel and only works better in numbers. Purely made of Xanion.

    Trafficker-Class Personal Shuttle

Based around the same design as the Conservator. However, it is designed to be much faster, fast enough to outmaneuver most standard military vessels and has room for a small amount of material goods. Any inquiries of the Trafficker should be denied access unless otherwise pre-approved.
