  1. Okay, So I have downloaded your Bulldog Heavy Destroyer and I'm Really liking the Design :D

Decided to load it up next to my current project the Deimos Class Destroyer... Either i've started building it a tad big or i may have to reclassify it?

    DeimosampBulldog_zpsgm1wmcdc.jpg

I classify my ships mostly based on their upgrade slot count and overall visual size, since there's no one definite way to classify ships in Avorion, though it's usually 1-2 for corvettes, 3-5 for frigates, 6-7 for destroyers,  8~10 for cruisers and anything more is a battleship/dreadnought. These are mostly arbitrary, since you can also increase upgrade slots with computer blocks and such.

    <your last two posts>

Lol, did the beta update really end up butchering the Raven's design that much? :P But it seems the Banshee is still alright, as you said. Though, it seems I may have to update a lot of ship "descriptions" once all the changes hit the stable release.

  2. Holy shit, I don't even know what words to use to describe this ship...

fighters are almost useless right now, so why waste a space...

I use them only for mining, when I encounter ore rich sector, I set out my miners on few huge asteroids, why I destroy incoming pirats/xsotans. And in that case, 12-99 is good enough :)

I recently tried out fighters once again, and it was almost ridiculous, I am on Trinium area, so I bought 24 tesla fighters, 65k for each+pilots, assigned them in two groups.

I ventured forth, encountered few xsotan level ships - so I decided to do a test. Destroyed all xsotan with exception of 1 big ship with about 4k omicron, got in range, and launched all my fighters on it...  Before they took its shield, I had only 10 survivors :DDD sooo yeah... worthless :(

I've noticed that fighters seem to have friendly fire. I bought a bunch of laser fighters, the moment they opened fire and flew into each others' beams, they all died, at least that was what it looked like. Went from 24 to 3 in mere seconds. Though, I've had better luck with cannon and (seeker) launcher fighters, probably due to their range and low rates of fire.

Not really sure if they were taken out by a turret I didn't notice, since it seemed like the hostile ship had all its guns focused on me.

  3. So an update on playing with all of your ships in the beta build...

Thanks a lot for keeping me posted. :) But damn, gyros and dampeners, more maneuverability blocks. This should be interesting. I'll just sit and wait till they drop the big one though, then I'll start the crying :P

My urge to build is still strong, though, but I have a current line of ships that are basically just pods slapped onto a chassis to expand it in various ways, with deliberate tiny little slits in the armor to make all of its systems easily accessible. Also, the thrusters for these ships are mostly just encased in housings and slapped on to the outside or some other places, but should be really easy to notice and modify.

Wow, I really like your Banshee and Raven Class ships! They are my cup of tea :P

Thanks. :) Those were the ships that took me the longest to build, what with all the fancy angles and such.

    Ships:

    - Added new Centurion Spacecraft Carrier, because every space battle needs swarms of fighters.

    D8gRbea.jpg

    - Added new Bulldog Heavy Destroyer, big, fat, ugly and tough. Don't try to fly it like a fighter.

    Companies:

    - D.S.P.P. Shipbuilder Holdings is proud to announce that we have successfully assassinated and replaced with a loyal, brainwashed clone, the CEO of bought over Titan Heavy Industries. We also replaced the CEO's wife and 72 mistresses for good measure. Receiving much success as a manufacturer of heavy industrial spacecraft, Titan Heavy Industries has now decided to venture into the military market, with a range of ships modified and refitted into combat vessels of various roles. These ships feature a bulky, heavy aesthetic, alongside with the trait of easily being melted by railguns accessible systems through poor design flaws in the armor plating deliberately designed access points, should any aftermarket modifications be necessary.

    General:

    - Removed redundant ship categories from page 2 of catalog, will add new categories as necessary.

    - Updated Page 1 company listings.

    - Added new Titan Heavy Industries ship tags.

P/S: DOUBLE NEW SHIP POST!!! WHAT DOES IT MEAN??? It means my film studies classes are screwed. It means two new ships were posted at once, duh.

  4. You can add crew to a station by transferring to them just like crew/cargo from one ship to another. You can also enter the station like any other ship (get within <0.5km , highlight and press 'T' by default) to assign any idle crew members. Other station mechanics, I'm not really sure about since I don't build stations.

  5. Very clean. Much sexy. Such "human-looking". w0w.

That aside, I really like that tiny starter ship of yours. I usually skip to building the big guys (my shipyard is full of destroyers) because I can't help myself. :P

  6. - OUTDATED -

"These ships are outdated and are here for.... Err... Archiving purposes"

    Wendall-Class Exploration Ship (Pantheon Corp.)

    [DISCLAIMER]:

Yes, we know it's practically a civillian ship, but we're classifying the Wendall-Class as a Destroyer as the rich folk can't stop charging into battle with it whilst yelling, "CRY HAVOC AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR!!!" in a pretentious attempt to show off their eloquence.

Rant from one of the sales & marketing department guys:

"So, a while ago, we received an influx of complaints from a bunch of self-proclaimed 'adventurers' and 'freelancers', with too much titanium, naonite and credits, that our available range of ships look 'too aggressive' and 'spews thruster flames all over the place' both of which are 'scaring away all the ladies'. We kindly told them to go screw themselves and then released the Wendall-Class. A mid-sized ship with luxuries such as heated seats, toilets with enough buttons and lights to make sci-fi look medieval, whale penis skin leather seats, a Michael Winslow clone as a radar operator and of course, cup holders."

"The Wendall-Class boasts a decent shield strength, a small cargo bay and comes with a reasonable amount of upgrade slots. For a supposed civilian vessel it is comparable to, an even surpasses to a certain extent other similarly sized military vessels, with its few drawbacks being slightly slower, more resource intensive and needing more manpower to operate due to the lack of automation found on often more advanced military vessels."

    [FRGT] Frigates:

    ====================================================================================================================

    Raven Series Frigate (Gomorrah Galactic)

"Have you ever wanted to travel in style, but are an insignificant peasant your fortunes find you a beggar? Look no further, as we are proud to present the Raven Series of Frigates an affordable and stylish ship designed for all the insecure poor people novice adventurers in the outer systems. Encased completely in armor, the Raven features superior maneuverability, extreme braking performance and modification potential with the removal of a few panels but we don't know which ones because nobody took notes. It's drawbacks however, are that it lacks a hyperspace drive because the engineers were too god damned lazy to design a proper ship and decided to let the consumer perform their own upgrades in order to maintain affordability. Also available in Trinium and Xanion as the RavenTR and RavenXN respectively."

  7. ...<words>...

Thanks, glad you like them. :) I've been holding back on posting newer designs so far, mainly because of the looming arrival of DTUs (I don't play the betas). I've been trying to design my newer ships with the thrusters in more easily accessible places in case there needs to be any modifications later on., though there is one non-DTU one that I really want to put up, working on it as of this post.

The Pantheon Corp. line of ships have all been built without knowledge of the existence of DTUs, so apologies that you have to spend some time dissecting them. I already have plenty of trouble dissecting them myself and my impulse to "BUILD MOAR NEW SHIPS!!!" isn't helping :P

  8. Nice, simple clean looking designs. I like how there's dedicated turret mounts with the hazard stripes on your ships.

...(cause who needs a bridge in this game, and who would put one in a vulnerable position? Sod it, it looks cool!...

    Also, haha, this. xD

  9. very nice job on the ships, are we aloud to use them in our games?

on never mind i see the dl links lol.

i was wondering can u make a smaller ship of the Freighter?

i like your designs they are really nice :)

Thanks. :) For the freighter, I designed it before I heard about the upcoming thruster rework, so I'll wait until after that to see what happens. I can always build a new model otherwise.

Furthermore, the whole thruster rework thing is making me decide to put a LITTLE thought into upgradeability in-game, (partially exposed systems, minimizing amounts of hidden systems, removing a few blocks to access system blocks, etc.), since my designs before this post feature a lot of hidden thrusters in order to keep up the ships' maneuverability.

    [uPDATE]

    Ships:

    - Added new Raven Series Frigate, designed for early game with braking thrusters more powerful than its afterburners DEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPSSSS ESUACEB. Also available in Trinium and Xanion (for some reason)

    General:

    - D.S.P.P. Shipbuilding Co. is now D.S.P.P. Shipbuilder Holdings, because it's more fun to enslave other companies. The previous design aesthetic is now classified under "Pantheon Corp."

    - D.S.P.P. Shipbuilder Holdings has subjugated bought majority shares in another company, Gomorrah Galactic, with a different aesthetic style. They are now under D.S.P.P. Shipbuilder Holdings.

    - Added tags behind ship names to relate them to a particular company, and thus aesthetic, because lore and blah blah pizza cake for continuity.

  10. I'm going to use some of your Nemeses to "mine" pirates and aliens where I'm building my stations. Cheers!

    I'm gonna reply in-character here,

"You're Welcome. DSPP Shipbuilding Co. is happy to provide to your military, commercial and other space-faring needs. We hope you enjoy your purchase and continue to be satisfied with our products."

    Heheh...

Nice-looking ships. I like that we can recognize your style across different ships. Nice balance of sleek armor and industrial-looking blocks. I'd love to see ships like that fly through my galaxy!

Thanks. :) Though, I'm foreseeing that I might have s little problem with one ship looking like another in the future. Still, I guess that's the challenge.

Very nice shiplines! I assume that you have to work with a plethora of hidden thrusters in order to achieve this kind of maneuverability compared to the mass of each ship?

    Thanks.

Also, yeap. I use a lot of hidden thrusters for a variety of reasons, from aesthetic, to avoiding from blinding whoever's flying the ship, to protecting them from collisions, as debris and a few other things can still get through your shields. Though, I've read there's going to be a thruster rework in an upcoming update, so I'm not sure if my ships can still maintain their maneuverability after that. It's gonna be a LOT of rebuilding when that happens, or I might just create a new line of ships with customizable components/systems in mind instead. :P

  11. Before we start, here's a link to a forum post that tells you how to edit the in-game music:

    http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,1122

So, recently, I found out you could mod the music in Avorion, and as we all know, the kind of music that plays in-game can completely change the atmosphere of it. The default music is nice and all, but I'm more for a space-western feel.  ;)

Right now, I plan on including tracks from Rebel Galaxy, which you should check out if you haven't, and a few tracks from the Cowboy Bebop OST, which you should also check out.

Feel free to leave other suggestions of any other music genres for others to check out.

  12. Your ships are great. They're clean, they're a good balance between elegant and bulky/brutish, they follow a certain theme, and they have enough detailing and greebles to add interest without looking like the outer space equivalent of an 17-year-old's heavily modded Honda Civic (apologies to anyone with heavily modded Honda Civics).

Thanks for the compliment. Also, haha, Space Civic. xD

I will look at replacing those.  Thanks for the reply.

    You're welcome. :)
