Thanks. For my own use today I ramped up one to Trinium and Xanion and it was a marked improvement over the base version.

No but thanks, my ship is relatively small and the pods are pretty basic other than the angled outer skin layer.

I've got multiple works in progress but being a truck driver cuts deeply into my free time. Here's a small project I hashed together in a hurry, what I'm calling a 'Sector Runner' Exploration Vessel, aka SREV. Cost Credits 264774 Iron 3600 Titanium 8884 Naonite 18400 While the looks are slapped together for the most part I am happy with how it came out overall, particularly since it looks like it does what I designed it for -- to jump into higher tier sectors to find secret stashes and claimable asteroids, salvage the occasional wreck and/or mine a few asteroids and then get the heck out of there before overpowering enemies arrive. The stats are something else I am happy with. While it does not have a huge amount of thrust it stops on a dime and has a generous energy pool so you can boost almost constantly when necessary. It turns and rolls very well, especially compared to similar builds I have seen here and has a decent base shield rating which shines with a rare or better shield booster. It has a base jump range of 7, too, so it has legs for its size. Further, it has 4 slots which I plan on filling with a hyperdrive booster, shield booster, object detector and mass sensor for my purposes. I do not think it would make a terrible autonomous mining vessel for mid tier use in sectors you plan on loitering in, either. Sector_Runner_Final.xml

Nah, leave the shields if you can and sneak the cores on as an outside layer somewhere and move the armor on top of it.

Lol Pob that ship is *exactly* the type I was working on before I got in the semi for this week of work. I was building a lower tier ship with at least 4 slots that's fast, maneuverable and has decent shields to use primarily for sector searching in higher tier areas for secret stashes and claimable asteroids. The only thing I'd need to add to yours to fit my desires would be hyperspace cores to extend the base range.

How have you all been mounting your Xanion turrets before you advance into Ogonite sectors since the Xanion tier doesn't have armor blocks? I'm going to try out Xanion stone since it's a high durability block but would be interested in any other ideas you might have.

I love seeker missiles, really help make up for limited maneuverability on big ships causing targeting issues with direct fire turrets.

True but my ships explode when I hit an asteroid at speed regardless of armor cladding. Unless it's strictly necessary I'd rather skip it on my mid to early late game designs and save on the weight.

Per the title, is armor necessary in the current release if you have a ton of shields?

I like your creativity, particularly on the farm.

Best suggestion if you're a little overwhelmed is to visit the User Guides forum and read up. Works well in conjunction with a YouTube video search for 'getting started in avorion'.
