  1. Something similar happened to me once when I was destroying a shipyard and I had to quit the game to go do something else (eat maybe, dunno?). So I exit the game and stuff and then when I come back, relaunch the game, and my ship was half-destroyed..apparently while the game was closed, the shipyard was still attacking me somehow..

    Weird.. ???

  2. I like to call it modding, not cheating. I mean, I run Linux, and managed to find the configuration folder and actually managed to understand what is in there and change the correct stuff to give myself whatever I want. That's something your average Joe wouldn't be able to do.

I see it as a plus, that I can do that, but I guess it's a subjective thing!  ;D

  3. Hey dudes!

I'm going to start a mini series on youtube. Initially I wanted it to be something like what Yogscast did with Minecraft. But I thought it would be best to ask the community directly what you guys would like? I was thinking either something yogscast style where I start playing and talking about what I'm doing and going on "adventures" and what not; or I could make it like a tutorial series (like the coding ones)..First episode: where and how to download/install the game, Second episode: in-game menus and optimization...Third episode etc. How would you guys like me to do this? AND I would also like to know how often would you like me to pop up with a new episode? Weekly? Bi-weekly? Every other day except for weekends?

Another thing is the Pocket Guide. I have promise a long time ago that I would start the Pocket Guide for the game, on the wiki. A pocket guide is a sort of user's manual. So basically I'd be writing a huge page with how to start the game and the talk about every aspect of the game in a tutorial fashion. This would go well with the youtube series if I were to make them in a tutorial fashion as I latter described. And it would make it easy to combine them, in a sort of: "Hey here's some text on how to do this and if you still don't understand here's a pretty little youtube video for your guidance!"

So, I'll check in for replies and get started on stuff once we have a general idea on how things should work! Peace out!  8)

  4. I get the exact same error if I run the game without using the dedicated graphics card. I have an Intel HD built-in and an Nvidia 520MX running with bumblebee. If I run the game with optirun, it works perfectly.

This might be a problem...seemingly you can't run it with built-in Intel graphics card? That would be bad..

    v0.4

Oh I wouldn't know how buggy it is because I don't want to play it on windows, as weird as that sounds...I'm gonna wait around till you release the Linux version. I already installed a screen-capture program and mentally prepared myself to start writing the Pocket Guide. I really can't wait to get to work! I'm very thrilled! :D

    v0.4

Well I updated my graphics card driver and now it works. I guess there's no point in attaching the clientlog now, is there?

    v0.4

wow...I can't actually believe my long and boring explanation made sense... i must be good o.O

anyway, koonschi, you take it from here on, chief! :)

    v0.4

ok, no...that's not how it works..

open up cmd. the command "cd" is used to go to a folder. Now you have to use that command to get to the folder where Avorion is installed. For example if Avorion is installed in: C:/Program Files/Avorion then after you opened up cmd you should write: cd "Program Files". That should take you there. Then write: cd Avorion. Now thing is, if you start writing: cd Av for example then press the button TAB, it will autocomplete (that should make things easier for you). When you are in the folder just start writing Avor... and hit TAB until it autocompletes to Avorion.Ink and hit enter to start the application.

TL;DR (assuming your game is installed in C:/Program Files/Avorion) :

    • open up cmd
    • write cd Prog (then hit tab until you get Program Files) then hit enter
    • write cd Avor (hit tab until you get Avorion) then hit enter
    • now start writing Avor and hit tab till you get Avorion.Ink and hit enter

after that just copy paste what errors you get, here. Use this tutorial if you don't know how to copy/paste from cmd: http://unlockforus.blogspot.ro/2009/06/how-to-copy-paste-text-from-cmd-or.html

    v0.4

Yeah that's what it did for me too. Try to open cmd separately and go to the folder where Avorion is installed and run it manually. Then copy/paste like I did so we can see the error! :)

If you don't know how to do that, contact me or one of the developers and we'll explain to you how to do it!

    v0.4

So I'm at work, where I'm on this windows vista machine. I download the game, try to run it and it doesn't work. I go to the cmd and launch it from there. The error seems to be:

    C:\Program Files\Avorion>Avorion.lnk

An Exception occured: Vertex shader failed to compile with the following errors:

ERROR: 0:2: '' :  Version number not supported by GL2

    ERROR: 0:2: '' : syntax error #version

ERROR: 0:4: 'layout' : syntax error parse error

ERROR: 3 compilation errors.  No code generated.

The specs of the computer are: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.1 GHz; 2046MB RAM; 32-bit Windows Vista; ATI Radeon HD 3850.

  5. I listen to a variation of old-school rock (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Foghat etc) + folk/heavy metal (Ensiferum, Finntroll, Glittertind, Manowar etc) + trailerheads (Two steps from hell, Jeremy Soule etc) + space music (Stellardrone, Solar Fields etc) + dubstep/dnb (Noisia, Spor, Coyote Kisses etc)
