@Ohm why the trinium engines?
Same power, lesser mass - because I was stupid noob when built Megalodon and I should use trinium more there :D

Hey guys! Perhaps, someone already know me from Space Engineers workshop, so if you're one of them - some of the ships might feel familiar for you :P
First of all, I always prefered smaller ships, so no titan-sized giants there. All ships are upgraded for current beta branch (DTU), but there are kinda obsolete versions, which were made before going to beta - provided by request.
Btw, when I say "starter ship" I usually mean "smallest possible titanium ship for 7-8 crew (1 mechanic, 4 miners, 2 gunners) with 1 upgrade slot", usually costs 300-500 titanium. First ship you ever build for comfotable start, no iron-only ships.
Ship specifications goes in following format:
Hull HP/Shield HPMass
Thrust/Brake Thrust
Hyperspace Reach (only if it's more than standart 2.5 sectors)
Upgrade Slots
Cargo Hold (only if more than 0)

So, my first ship I made was replica of one of my SE ships, it's the smallest of "Hornet" series. In avorion it doesn't look that good, as it was, actually.

Chimaera Destroyer
Then I felt weak next to barrier, so I decided it's time to build pretty big ship. First, I wanted to build my Predator Cruiser from SE, but then I realized it gets bigger than I wanted and decided to postpone it to become top tier ship for core sectors (spoiler: I did not finish it yet). For that pre-core period I needed a bit smaller ship, so I created a "missink link", ship that goes before Predator.

Next ship was replica of Baldr Gunship, supposed to be "starter trade ship" with small cargo bay. At that point, I didn't know that 84 cargo is kinda useless... so I also made "mobility upgraded" (MU) variant, where I replaced redundant cargobays with generator, directional thrusters and dampeners. I kept "cargo" variant, tho, sharing it too.

I recreated Thor in more creative way - based on Baldr, with not looking on Thor pictures, so I added my own details. It kept Baldr's cargobays, so there're also ordinary and MU versions, where I replaced them. Later, I made more variants, including scaled versions.

Megalodon Heavy Cruiser
I also needed bigger ship capable of defeating wormhole guardian alone (and I did it), without any help and even diverter upgrade. This is also my biggest ship yet. Designed to be created before barrier and then upgraded with avorion. Tiny hangar just for few salvage fighters. Also, I was lazy to get specifications for avorion variant :P

Still, until trinium players would like to have easier way to easily upgrade whole ship ;)
I personally, don't try to rush to barrier from very start, I prefer to enjoy each tier stage.

When making this suggestion I was actually thinking of Mass Effect 2, where was some kind of kinetic and energy shields on enemies, you need to use different skills to efficiently destroy them :D

Shipyards kinda mostly useless right now, at least for me.
They could have more love to become useful for more players by adding following functions:
- Upgrade material of your current ship: as it says, instantly upgrade all blocks on your ship to next material tier, while blocks missing in that tier will remain one tier lower (armor blocks if you upgrade to materials, which don't have them);
[That can be done even now, but too tricky for daily usage, I'd better pay shipyard to do it in more comfortable way]
- Change the size of your current ship: again, you can easily increase or decrease block size of your whole ship you sitting in with selectable scale step;
[And again, can be done now too, but tricky, it's better to give more comfy options for this]
- Buy player-made ships from player list of saved ships: so I can buy it with "station founder" option and full crew with captain from start;
- Buy community made ships (not generated) submitted by players and approved by developers: apparently, as KeenSWH did to fill random encounters with community made ships and stations, select best combinations of really cool and detailed designs with functionality and add them as "special offers" to shipyards (one per station, randomly), so if other players who are not interested in building, but don't like those generated ships either, can buy cool looking ship and explore without spending time on building. Famous copyrighted designs are forbidden - no ships from Star Wars, Mass Effect, Eve or anything else non-original, only unique-enough ships, so nobody can say "hey, that's TIE fighter from SW!"
Player can also select material for those ships using same functional as for upgrade material feature.
Or maybe do this in other way, if steam workshop will be implemented - allow player to buy ships, he subscribed to in workshop. Or combine both, when cool-looking pre-made ships will be in vanilla game no matter what at some point :)

Initial idea for kinetic shields is to give protection from damn collisions!
Current shields can be re-done slightly, renamed into "energy shields" and protect only from following:
- plasma;
- laser;
- tesla;
- lighting;
- 50% of railgun damage?
Add new type of shields - "kinetic shields" which can protect from following:
- collisions (!);
- chaingun bullets;
- bolter bullets;
- missiles;
- cannon charges;
- another 50% of railgun damage?
Both types will have it's own HP bars, combined will give 100% protection from railguns (so it will be like now - damage shields first, then hull). Railgun part is questionable, tho.
Perhaps replace naonite shield block with kinetic shields (so that type will be available from naonite), while "energy shields" will be available only from trinium? Tiering there is also questionable, anyway, main idea is legit way to protect yourself from stupid collision deaths without disabling collision damage - it's too silly and boring without it, but too dangerous with it :P
Especially when server lags could be a reason for those collisions...
