  1. It somehow seems they do :o. They seem to have a roughly ten-second delay which radically decreases if a mining system is installed.

Maybe the AI is more realistic (or is it) than we think though I didn't see mining system things in the script.

Less risky than putting a Weeee-box (though I may be mistaken as roid collisions do not happen in OOTS.

Other tip: Mining Systems highlight asteroids for the player regardless of the module' ship being the player's or not, so you can run around the sector in another ship still seeing the highlighted roids in the distance, pretty funny :).

Thanks for your answer : ). I already wondered why they need 10 seconds to start. I will upgrade my mining ships now with cheap modules : )

            Mining Fleet Tips:

    • Be sure to equip all your mining ships with mining system upgrades so they can quickly and easily find new asteroids.

Is this really a thing? The ai mining ships are able to find asteroids by themself, are they faster with a mining system upgrade?

  3. I think the most indie games rush the release because of financial reasons. But i agree with you that they should take more time for balancing. Games should stay atleast 2 months in a final release state just for balancing reasons and complex games like avorion should take more time for this. The first experience after release is important for a growing player base.

  4. People keep dreaming an indie game is somehow going to be the next game that breaks through the AAA industry. Lets face reality here, it wont be, im very glad with game's current features but when you throw in "stood against test of time" "Long live forever" kind of hyperhole it is kinda laughable expectation from a 2 guy dev team.

If you speak about money and sold games, you are right, indie games doenst stand a chance against the big industry.  But i had gameplay wise my best and unique experience from indie games.

  5. Hi Community,

what are your expierence with the new persecutors?

    Patchnotes:

"Added persecutors that hunt players down when they go too deep into the galaxy without proper ships or weapons"

overall i think this is a good idea, the only problem i have with it that they sometimes appear instant when you leave your ship as a drone to build a new one or something like this. Would be nice if they dont spawn when you are in buildmode (obviously your ship will be weak when you build a new one) and we should have about 10 or 20 minutes time in drone mode before they can track you. I died already few times just because i wanted to build a new mining ship.

Does someone has a workaround without warping back in a low tier sector.

Another solution could be that those guys dont appear when any kind of strong alliance ship is in your sector.

"Added a "Switch to Sector" command that lets a player switch to a ship of his on the map"

did someone find out if we can use this with alliance ships too? I didnt yet, seems to me that it only allows player ships to switch.

  6. i would also suggest that shield generator get a softcap. After reaching this cap, they slowly start to become less efficient and maybe the max shield hitpoints can't be higher than the 50 % of the hull-HP.

Trading is much to easy.  I need about 20 mins to go from 10.000.000 to 30.000.000  Credits by trading body armor to militarystations. I think items with a low volume shouldnt have a  big credits value, because i can store hundreds of them in a small ship and the profit is much to high if you have a good relation to a faction. I bought bodyarmor for 90.000 and sold them for 105.000, after 2 runs i have the best relation to the faction and can buy them for 75.000 and sell for 125.000. To buy and sell from trader to trader is much harder, but the militarystations pay to much.
