  1. Nice designs. Welcome back to the game, Brony. Cheers
  2. Looking forward to V1.0. Does anyone know if former ship designs are still viable in the newer versions - AND any word from the devs one to which update old builds are still viable?? Thanx :)
  3. :) Very cool. Looking forward to the release date. Congratz to the Devs and thank you for all your hard work !!
  4. Sweet. This is a great addition to the game.
  5. Great update. Thank you :) :) :)
  6. Hi Sneaky Tacts ... interesting links. As stated, there have been a few threads on ship categories and nomenclature here in the forums. This link will take you to just one of the other available options. For those who have their own ideas, and wish to add to the conversation - I hope you will consider sharing. Cheers
  7. #1 The ROOT block cannot be removed while in SAFE MODE. In my experience, the ROOT block only serves to anchor the ship initially. What I often do is, is establish my own ROOT block then immediately delete the default ROOT block. One hazard with the ROOT block deletion ... be sure to immediately check to see if any of your centralization (X axis, Y axis and Z axis, respectively) is not messed up. If it is - save your file and exit the entire game and then reboot it - this will ensure your not misaligned. #2 Integrity Fields are a little wonky. As mentioned above, while in BUILD Mode, blocks affected by Integrity Fields will be highlighted in distinct way. It's finicky, so ... just play around with you, and you can see how to manage it. #3. Making game money ... once I obtain a high level trade item, then I begin to trade in earnest. Once i start trading, and get past first first million or so, i can easily make hundreds of millions. With trading - find your own groove. Start slowly, then as you get into bigger ships with bigger cargo holds you will develop your own system. The game itself is well developed to make trading a fun component of your game play. #3a. Starting up - your first million ... To earn my first million or so, I travel around and pick up military missions. As I am killing stuff, my ship is getting stronger, I gather the resource materials as I encounter them and I pursue the early Artifact Missions in the game. I suggest that you do not try to rush to your first million, or getting into an 8 - Slot ship in your first few hours of playing. An 8 Slot in a few hours IS a realistic goal, but this would require some game experience in a variety of areas. Overall, this game, Avorion, is nuanced. If you take your time and learn the subtleties, you may find the gameplay is unique, and you can approach the game from a variety of perspectives. In my own play, my game steps are typically - Miner, then Light Fighter guy/explorer, then Military Mission hopper, then Artifact Hunter, then earnest Trader. Cheers
  8. Of course, Vis. I look forward seeing your designs. I am sure most player/designers have their own ship class system. And that a variety of approaches is helpful, so that people can choose s system they like, or borrow ideas to shape their own. Cheers !!
  9. All good, Sneaky, and you're welcome. Thank you for clarifying your thoughts. Now let's hope that the Devs are able to incorporate the idea somehow (if it works for game balance, etc). I hope you enjoy your re-start. I will also be re-starting soon, but will be after Koonschi has set the new v0.26 into the main branch for game play. The fresh changes on the horizon look very interesting.
  10. Thank you, Sneaky for offering your views. I share your point of view, and like your enhancing ideas (above). And Blue Charles - wow - I really like your idea about the enhanced flight attributes. But, let me return to Eruner's great question ... Imagine, Eruner, being able to pilot a ship much like the image above, in this thread's opening post. I mean, I would be thrilled to fly a beautiful ship here in Avorion. As Sneaky pointed out, it can take hours of planning, designing, building, tweaking, and ultimately managing a ship design. I am just suggesting there be a way to shortcut all that labour. Please understand, I love the work done by others, and I have enjoyed designing my own ships. There is real reward in building your own ... I think it would also be fun and super cool to be able to acquire very rare drops of a beautiful ship - something that my skill would never allow me to build. Especially if the rare drop of a ship blueprint contained enhancements (as Blue Charles suggested). Anyway ... great discussion. Thank you all for reading and those of you whom have responded so far. By the way, Sneaky Tacts is an Avorion Ship Designer and his Creations thread may be found here.
  11. Hello Eruner I do not know yet ... I can only offer a guess at this stage ... maybe 700,000 cargo in the 12 to 13 slot ship types. My apologies for my slowness to get the completed design to the community. And based on your question, I now plan to present the final ship design in these size class categories: Elite Titan - 15 Slots (oversized) Titan - 15 Slots Dreadnaught - 14 Slots Juggernaut - 13 Slots Battle Ship - 12 Slots
  12. Did the traders reward you for the rescue?
  13. Perhaps in the majority of space games, ships styles and capabilities are strictly controlled by the game itself. Its convenient, but this convenience is bought at the price of style, optimization, ingenuity and (player) design. On the otherhand ... Prolly the biggest handicap of Avorion, in its current design, is the requirement that forces players to come up with - and build - their own ship designs - flawed perhaps in some way (under-powered, under-capacity, crap maneuverability) or otherwise well designed and fun to fly around in. Or they could spend some time, scanning the internet, to find a file of the right ship they want. Certainly, the biggest feature that I like about Avorion is the game's openess to MY designs. I enjoy building my own ... The problem with player-built ships is that they are ... oriented to the tastes of THAT player. Plus - it can take hours - even days devoted to construction of one single ship. For my own designs, I get both compliments and criticisms - I accept it all, and in many cases, I have learned much from those offering suggestions. (You can see some of my work here). In any case, I am interested to see the game have a little more (general) appeal for the more casual player. Suggestion: Add Blueprint Drops for Ships Perhaps game play would be more straight forward if players could receive blueprint drops of various ships, types and detail. The decision for the game designers is how is it best to incorporate this into the game. (So I will say nothing on this part of my suggestion). Players who are enthusiastic about creating and designing their own, or are into sharing designs online, and in the Avorion Workshop - great. Go at it !! Again, this game feature is what keeps me playing here (and designing). But at least then, the more casual player has an approach for the game. Also - if these ship designs were developed by devoted players or even professionals, i mean - wow, these designs would be sought after. Perhaps too, some of the rarest ship designs could be coded to be "un-tradeable". Getting a rare ship drop could be as fun as completing a mission or getting a sweet weapon drop. In fact, I would even drive a (slightly) smaller, less capable ship, if it was cool to pilot around in. Thank you for reading. See you in game. The Durandal. Designed by Kailyze from DeviantArt.
  14. Early Look at the Æristo A massive freighter, lol, with a planned build to finish above 2 million cargo. Trading is a big deal in my game. I find it far more interesting than mining alone, and to build massive ships, you need a tonne of cash. This is early going. It took a few hours to begin getting the proper dimensions, so, you will have to be patient with me. ... yeah, it still looks like a piece of $%#@, so no pics just yet. Anyway, this is what I am going for - look wise. This is what I have come up with so far. Might take me a day or so to finish it, trimming and all. I will definitely be posting pics of the ship once it is all done.
  15. Here is a rare cool freighter pic that I like. Maybe it will inspire me to create a new one. For me, trading is a big part of my game. If anyone takes a try at this, please share.
  16. In case you missed it, the newest Patch 0.26 looks good. If I come back to play some more, I will prolly start posting ships again.
  17. Wow - this seems like a great update.
  18. Cool !! The internalized turrets look awesome when firing. The ship itself is also a great design. Cheers
  19. Another thing to keep in mind ... The ships that each carry the needed artifacts DO NOT need to survive. If they DIE the artifact will drop in proximity to associated gate and you can enter. ONCE you enter the gate, you can cross the barrier at will. You can go back and retrieve all your artifacts and still enter the interior zone.
  20. I am very pleased on what I have read in Update 0.21. I am going to try out the new version (have not played or posted since November 2018). I still LOVE this game. Koonschi (or any devs) if you are reading this - thank you for all your hard work. Cheers
