  1. Ship building, ship editing is one of the big reasons why i like this game so much. Anything that improves the editor is great, BUT Please - keep it simple. I believe people would get frustrated if its too complex. Yes, its a fine balance to maintain
  2. Bump +1 Do you mean like a proximity lamp? Green if 20km+ away Yellow, within 10km Red within 1km? K, Anything that helps with docking is always welcome. Plus, it just might look cool
  3. Interesting idea, but i dont quite agree. Reason being, is because i feel this is already in place. As your professional crew gain experience, they also gain in capacity. Not quite what you were saying, but i guess i dont really see an issue that needs solving. As well, if you are rich you can always hire crew in advance of your ship swap. Cheers :)
  4. The Audax - Latin for "audacious". This dressed up version (featured and in the XML) contains many material upgrades that were not in what I started with. To reduce materials costs, i had replaced all the Trinium that I could with Titanium. This (posted) version of the Audax includes Xanion shields among other improvements. As well, all the Titanium has been replaced by either Trinium or Xanion. The central element is Xanion stone, so I can mount my Xanion turrets. I coloured it with a dark purple for an (what I think) is an intriguing effect. Its a very fast ship. With the booster, top speed is over 4300m/s. With all its stored energy, its easily maintained. I hope you enjoy driving it ... The Audax always served me well. Money Cost: (Details soon) Iron: Titanium: Naonite Trinium: Xanion: All my XMLs are posted centrally - on the first page of this thread. http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,2539.msg13053.html#msg13053 Audax Stats, of course
  5. Well, I look forward to your post 19MT70. Until then - this reply is a placeholder set to host the Aegoran. I need to make a better picture set, as there are changes to the Aegoran and I would need new pics that go with the stats and the XML. Here is just one screen for now. I will post screens, stats and XML as soon as I can. :)
  6. Hi Ghozt What sort of help were you interested in? In the meantime, let me offer these two items (element breakdown & smoothing), which you may find helpful. Corsair Star, Breakdown The Corsair Insignia (the five pointed star - see attachment) would be painful with a straight forward approach. Instead, I would suggest you break that element down. As you can see below, the angled five-point star is possible if you break it down into right angle triangles Sloped surfaces: For the many many angles you will have in building the Corsair, if I may suggest downloading another's work on their ship (various XMLs) to see their solution to smoothing edges. I had posted my Wing Pods (xml) for the Jackal. For your design with the Corsair, as you modify your various slopes through your ship, you could result in a very smooth, yet varying sloped surface - even on the edges like your wings and the tail. I hope this helps - Good luck. Its an ambitious project. :)
  7. Hello Captain ... nice designs. If you wish, to use the Spoiler option, you can use the code: [.spoiler] INSERT STUFF HERE [/.spoiler] Be sure to remove the "." that i placed before "spoiler", or it wont work. Ohm placed the suggestion in my thread if you need more info :)
  8. Hi everyone I will be centralizing all posted pics and xmls in one message http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,2539.msg13053.html#msg13053
  9. Cool ... looking forward to your post on it. Do you need the xml for my wing pods? The design includes shavings of the old (0.10) thrusters. I am trying to figure out dropbox so I can post the pods for you.
  10. Hi thanx for the feedback, Jester. Yeah, sorry about making you wait ... attached is the XML for Argento for you and any others. Argento_TT.xml ... not updated for 0.11 Version Update https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0U2m7lZM_RJVXRpSDRnUmxQV1U/view?usp=sharing
  11. Hiya Wilponder For future reference (and anyone else who may not know), if you select the F8 key, you can turn on and off your UI, and wipes the screen to show off more of your ship. Enjoyed your ships :)
  12. Heyaz ... just put a post up in the design advice regarding the New 0.11 Thrusters !! I thought it would be better placed in the User Guides section ... once there, please share your ideas too http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,3048.msg16350.html#msg16350 :)
  13. Ah ... the 0.11 Thrusters ... at first, I was a little frustrated - Now, I love them. One way I managed the new thrusters was to rethink some of my ship designs - and not just a "replacement policy". With this early attempt, I had awesome (unrefined) results. By that I mean, I am still learning, so in the coming days, I will be hitting my (personal choice) optimums. I hope you find the same ... :) Ok ... so in this example, I have pics from my current game ship, Audax. Prior to the update, I think its Braking Thrust was 70 or so. With ONE single piece placement optimization, I shot up to 120 for Braking Thrust. How did i do it? Here's my example: Audax's cousin-ships are posted here ... http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,2539.msg16294.html#msg16294 I will continue posting ships as I adjust for the new (and wonderful) update !! One thing to add is the overall technique ... Basically - you take any slab of armour you want to convert ... say ... 5 x 4 x 27. - Step 1 - divide ALL dimensions by 4 In this example the result would be 1.25 x 1 x 6.75 - For each step, you are ALWAYS using the same dimensions while replacing - Step 2 place your first NEW block - a huge pain in the butt when starting - Step 3 (critical) make sure your first block is perfectly placed. This first block can be templated for everything that follows - Step 4 Place the rest of your New Blocks - Step 5 Place all of your Boxy Corner Armour - Step 6 Place all of your Corner (triangled) Armour - Step 7 Check yer work - Yay, Done!! Cheers ;)
  14. Among my ships, the deficiency I had was for a transport. The Jackal was built for speed and for hauling. This build (from 10.2 version) has over 4900 cargo ... but I may need to rethink that with the 0.11 Version update. Stats are not posted today, sorry, as the re-work may take me a day or two. In the meantime ... The Jackal Cheers :)
  15. ;) Just wanted to confirm for all, the formula damngod posted totally works for calculating distance, and in finding Swoks.
  16. Haha!! Your crab is super cool. Me likes. ;)
  17. The wing pods for the Jackal are done ... was a bit of work - but in the end, the effort was worthwhile. Jackal Wing Pods - mount-ready (for copy & paste & mirroring) And ... mounted (close up from the Jackal) All XMLs are linked here in this post http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,2539.msg13053.html#msg13053 Cheers :)
  18. Hi - A quick file management system that seems to be working well for me. As many as you likely know, on game openning, your files in the build mode are accessed alphabetically. After game openning, i "think" the slots are presented sequentially - until you stop and restart the game itself. What i routinely do now is, my "keeper" files are saved with the file name starting with "A". While in game, i do not delete a files starting with an "A". Even if i am replacing an "A" file, i do it out of game, and keep the file in an archive folder. Hopefully i did not confuse everyone, lol Cheers ;)
  19. When taking screen shots, the build shop is a great option ... ... Except that you may be forced to include a big green arrow. As a suggestion ... when using F8, could that functionality also remove the green arrow, please :) Thank you Gracias Merci Danke Schoën
  20. Heya Ohm From your post above - regarding the Audax, agreed - but those thrusters i think you are referring to are my brake thrust thrusters, so I have those on a stubby pod near the centre. Generally, I specialize thrusters - trying to place em as well as I can - but its does not show well in the pic. Side thrusters Up/Down thrusters and Brake Thrusters. In the version I have, I am still using slices (but again, in the pics, it was early in the build, so I had not slabbed them by the time of the picture). I am hoping I am correct in my thinking. In any case, I appreciate the insight you have shared. :) (To see the pictures Ohm and I are referring to ... see: http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,2539.msg13054.html#msg13054 ) Cheerio ;D
  21. Awesome - thanx Ohm !! I will do some clean-up tomorrow when i finish the jackal. Nightie-night 8)
  22. Hi Pob Thanx for the stripped down version ... of the Rhino and the other one. I have a suggestion. If you were to move the thrusters on either ship to the extreme corners (away from "centre of mass" where practical), pound for pound, your stats may be enhanced ... (Maybe ?) Lemme know how it turns out. GL :P For a pictorial of what I mean, maybe check out my stripped downs and my thruster placement(s). http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,2539.msg13054.html#msg13054 I hope dis helps Cheers :)
  23. Ok, the Jackal ... the first attempt on the side pods was a -fail-, :'( lol. Hit the drawing board again, but ran outa time. In the meantime, here is the side pods (Component Part Only). I still gotta rig up the mount, and will try to get to it tomorrow after work, and post it with the full, completed ship. (Again, the original concept drawing of the Jackal is from Ignus Dei). Cheers Jackal - under construction - component parts for now (Pods) 33 x 12, and thin. Just 0.5 block width. Please let me know if you have wing pods like this already ... maybe post your link to your page. Cheers :)
