Ive found that even if I set the "server.bat" to -- use-steam-networking 0 or false that if you check the server log it will still show -- use-steam-networking 1.
No matter what I do.

but how the hell do you use that calculator
from where to where and what to what are the calculations youre discussing?
Am I to assume that you count the number of snaps to grid (game feedback) and perform some sort of arbitrary calculation based on ships entire size?
im sorry for being so obtuse but as much logical/practical spatial awareness I may posses IRL this method confuses me.

Currently my only single player playthrough is "unplayable" due to performance degrading so horribly since last patch that I am less concerned about the random disconnections.
I would really just like the game to work.

I don't know the tickrate of the server, but that's a lot of frames missing.
I do have several monitors and I am noticing cpu getting flooded, ram too.
Unfortunately though I dont think the little celeron laptop I have would make a good server.
My server is an AMD Athlon 5350 (AM1 APU, 4 GB Ram, Quad-Core 2.05 GHz). Is your Celeron Laptop compareable to that?
Well, do you see what is flooding your RAM? The server or the client?

bleh im trying to capture the actual video of the lag but if I record the game then lag shows as just freezes and not my input. then screen cap just show black screen... I guess I will run windowed mode next... see if that works.....

Yeah I know that the udp bunk is from local host. I dorked my way around networks for a long time. I dont have anything obvious set in my firewall or ip blocker to inhibit local host traffic but i am investigating further.
Wish me luck...
one thing I have noticed is a ton of udp requests to reserved ips iana multicast etc. im not so savvy to know if thats normal or not...
netstat looks normal though...
shits really pissing me off.

1 minute video with some lag and performance shown.
Im sorry about the quality im video newb...
Maybe there is something in obs setting I can change to get a better quality?
Also as OBS is capturing the actual output from the exe you are not able to see a lot of the lag... it just shows as if I am not inputing anything.
So when I am opening menus and wiggling my mouse around and the game is still waiting to show damage or process the last command its just in a state of hanging.
Shooting stuff and no damage reads...
Takes like 10+ seconds to switch ships
Everything is in rubberband mode.
I need to catch some video of my ships all spinning around like crazy too.
I am really good at breaking stuff.
I feel like tossing my computer out the window.

This is a thing that keeps happening and not just to me...
Yesterday I lost my entire fleet except one ship...
Just gone...
Not destroyed....
Not in a random sector...
We are talking about TOTALLY FUCKING GONE!
Just a good thing I make hard backups every 2-4hrs.

I also have a massive save file (2.5gb) and im getting huge lag on loading sectors too.

I am assuming this is happening bc of the saving process... but its random if it fails on every save.

I am really getting pissed off that people dont underfuckingstand what darkconsole is saying. Everysingle person that has made a suggestion is like using cognitive dissonance or something....
Are you just fucking stupid? Or has society degenerated so badly that barely a few sentences is TLDR???
And the idea is a brilliant suggestion... Mechanics should set the level of decay... so if you have 12% it cant decay past 12% of course it would require materials $$$$ and 100% mechanics to restore.

I do totally get your need to have cool shit in the home sector. I also totally get the cost. I usually do most of my design in creative from an rp standpoint "in my holographic design platform".
I'm not sure anyone that posted to your thread actually thoroughly read your posts.

This version is just a riff... I just did it without really looking at it and more or less just tried to get familiar with designing things with angles and curves better. Enjoy!

its a huge drag it just happened to me as well lost 5! AI controlled ships.... Including my main ship bc I spawned (for some unknown reason) into my miner.
Luckily I have about 200gb of backups.... so I just reloaded it.

There is another shape as well that is like a square corner block...
So instead of a square with its corner sliced off....
It is square with two slopes. It has 5 right angles (4-1 perpendicular) the rest slopes. I think it might be a 5-cell... of some sort.
Trying to just find the basic corner block on the internet without knowing what its called is driving me mad
Also an 8 sided cube is super handy for finishing angled and sloped sections
ALSO the thing that would fit here that isnt the point block, or the corner block... I realize putting it in a sphere shape is a bad example... I am not trying to complete the sphere... Im just looking at the triangle shape that has 4 right angle vertices and several variable ones. As if you sliced the inverse corner in the picture diagonally.

Love the concept that we could have a block that just toggled through a series of connective shapes so that we could match up odd geometric designs and smooth out some of the wonkiness of the build system.
And yes this game has the best creative design mode of any sandbox/voxelish style game out there.
