  1. You know what, you’ve already posted a Tie Interceptor here - link, in the Spoiler.

I had always thought the design of the Tie Interceptor was beautiful, but lazy.

Lazy, because once you notice that square-shape cut-out of the wing (the negative space), it looks like crap.

So, what I suggest is this:  Where that big, ugly, lazy square cut-out is on the inner portion of the wing, place something congruent, that blends with and complements the other features of the ship.

Since i first noticed this, now all i see is a hollow square.

    Judge for yourself ...

  2. So, if i am seeing this right, the Avorto is basically double the width and height to the dimensions of the Algaard?  But not as long?

I like how the main hull in the Avorto sillowette is a bit fatter.

I cant post a pic at this moment, but the tie wings i have been looking at have a square shaped negative  space.

I suggest rounding it out, and then detail that negative space with venting or something.

I will try to post a sketch or better yet, find a pic that can explain it better

  3. The updated design of Algaard is very nice.  I noticed too, her bow was enhanced.

    Good job !!

I am wondering though - do you still have plans to make an interpretation of the Tie Interceptor.  With the good execution of design in the Algaard, I would love to see what you come up with next.

You had posted comments on the Tie Interceptor in a former post, and wondered if I could send you or post some design suggestions here?

  4. OMG - the Aristo is a beast !!  I think the Titan Class version will be good enough for my game.  Besides at 28 Million, she's big enough and still very affordable.

Yup, I got the xml's.  Danke, merci, gracias.    :)

  5. I have used alternate ships set up to do this for me, remotely.

For example:  I have three mining ships, and one more crappy one.  When my miners get full up, I order it to the Resource Depot.

Once it drops in its cargo, I order it back to the Sector I am mining in.

From there, the alternate ship will be told to REFINE - where it will now wait for RSS and grab em when they are ready.

  6. IFGs can be placed sparingly on your ships.

If you use huge chunks of IFGs while building, I have noticed a localization effect - that is, if I place a huge chunk and a small chunk of IFG - they have about the same result.

Warrax suggested to me to sprinkle the IFGs throughout your ships to optimized their effect, and not place an unnecessary burden on your build.

  7. Hello DagmarthePirate

    Great work on this  ;)

Yes, I can confirm the mining question you posed above.

    Two circumstances:

#1  If you have large mining vessels AND you are in the sector yourself, these large mining vessels can get hung up or stalled out.  I have received feedback from other players as well.  They have reported the same.

#2  If you are NOT in the sector miners do NOT get hung up/stalled.  Apparently size of ships do not matter in this case.

To a third point - (not asked above)

#3  My fleet miners have NEVER been attacked when I was not in sector.  That is, your mining vessels WILL NOT be attacked in all cases when you are not there.  Your fleet miners are only under threat of attack if you are also present - in the same sector.

  8. Awesome !!  :o

Algaard II is great build, the lines on her are incredible.  And the use of the Tie-Wings very cool.  Overall, it seems a very well executed design.

The stats for Algaard have me salivating !!

"I wanted an oversized 15-module ship to handle like an 8 module ship.

In other words, I did NOT want to feel BIG"

I agree with you, the engines in this version of Algaard II seem a little ... underwhelming ...

In part, I think the engines are too small, compared with the scale of the rest of the ship.

And the square or rectangular-ness of these current engines just ... i dunno, seem a little off ...

I mean, you had honourably mentioned Le Dev Canadien.

Maybe merge some ideas from your engine design on Avaris with the beautiful concepts of Le Dev Canadien, (see below).

Here, maybe this will help explain what i mean.

  9. Very nice !!  Well done, Jester!!

I like your take on the Reugeot 905 (which was a featured artwork, here).

You have a talent ... I hope you continue to explore (and share).  And I am pleased that you posted your design (above).    My thanx  ;D

I've been working on my own version for a decent hauler, and I am close to a final product.  I will post my initial work later today.

As I was nearing the end of that initial build, I was hit with a spurt of innovation that could not be applied to the current build.

Your posting gave me a few more ideas.

... I guess I will need to do another one ... lol

I wonder if I could incorporate your design into the Freighter Section of this thread, Jester?

For my game-play, I will want a range of ship sizes.  I suspect other Avorion Players will want/need the same.

    Thanx again,

    Cheers

    Yer welcome.  :P

And yes, certainly, please go ahead.

I pm'd you the xml of my build, please send me the one for Aerduus.

The Aerduus is brillient.  Cant wait to fly it !!

    Hi Warrax,

While waiting for your design, I decided to make an attempt myself. Be kind, as this is my first ship design I've ever made from scratch.  I like the name - Æristo - so I started to use it.  (Though, I have gone back to my own ship-naming system).

Oh, and I used the template that you sent me for engine nozzles.

I hope you like this version. I messaged you the XML.

Please keep posting new stuff, I like the look of your designs and the way they fly !!  :D

My little fleet with two miners and your Algoma.  (Thanx for the Algoma XML btw, Warr)

(Warr, you should post the Algoma sometime, it's great as an entry in the Interceptor Class).

  11. I found one Turret Factory (not my own) near the core ... maybe around (~45,0) or so out ... it had a slot #of 7 with 28,000 dam.  I think it was a rail gun, with a rate of 0.6, so the dam/s was unimpressive at 9,000/s.

I guess things get kinda quirky near the centre.  I have never built a Turret Factory before, so I guess I will need to ...

And Wanderlust - wow indeed.  That's a nice turret !!
