Are you sure you weren't trying to buy a fighter?
-
It was the easiest "programming" I've done recently ;)
(also, fixed something in the mod - put comment end in the wrong place)
-

A simple mod to fix a frustration many people seem to have: hyperspace blockers!
This simply disables the hyperspace jamming they do.
The blockers still spawn, they just don't block you anymore!
Works retroactively on blockers already present (on server restart), so yes, you can use it to save your butt :)
Installation:
copy the blocker.lua attached to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Avorion\data\scripts\entity\
(overwrite the one already present)

It's quite difficult to find your ship again in the sector, if you are not near (I know you can use G to iterate throug all things, but if there are a lot of ships and stations, that's no fun).
Zoom all the way out (scrolling) for system map, your ship has a green box around it - select with middle click
-
One more thing what are these boxes with red strips on them? I made the guy drop his cargo I can't pick anything up.
That's cargo, but by default you don't pick up stolen cargo (as you can get fined for carrying it near other ships) - changeable somewhere in ship menu
-
2. I think certain types of station can only be built there (mines)
3. There should be a new icon in the menu top-right when you equip the upgrade
Alright you are a god thank you, one more question if I set them to mine in a sector and leave. Do they hold the resources they collect until I come back. Or do they stop mining?
Resources they collect get added to your inventory when they're mined, even by AI ships. But they do stop mining after (by default, changeable in server settings) 5 minutes after the player leaves the system (and is not in a connected system either) when the sector unloads.

Your ship doesn't need to be a match if you're fast enough :)
And you shouldn't worry to much about antagonising pirates - they're pirates :P
-
Well, if it's singleplayer or your server there should be a way to fix it with scripting...
*makes note to look into this this evening after work*
-
FYI, you're not obliged to pay the fine, you can fight or run
-
And hidden systems are yellow blips on the map after you've done so :)
-
Battlecruiser is from StarCraft, not Star Wars :V
-
Relevancy bump for release as I haven't gotten around to putting it on the wiki yet
-
-
Not disagreeing, but tip: even in a drone you can travel to other systems (either via hyperspace jumps or via jumpgates), go find one that still has resource asteroids, it'll save you a lot of time
-
If you unlock mouse pointer with shift, you can select your own ship (middle click) and see how fast you go in the stats down right.
-
Easiest way is just destroying the jammer :P
-
You think that's hard? Try dealing with these angles..
I'm fairly sure there are easier ways to do what you did there :P
Anyway, I'm trying to make this, so yes, I think it's hard: :V
I'd love that too, but that would mean a big redesign of the block infrastructure, which I really don't wanna do right now.
"Really don't wanna do" == "There are bigger problems and it might be very error prone."
Aw. Okay then, to the edge tool /o/

R for rotate, X, Y and Z to mirror around X, Y and Z axis.
Also, F1 shows all keyboard shortcuts for the building menu.

What is the underlying process behind the research station? I know you put turrets on the left and it outputs a seemingly random turret on the right. Is there a way to control the output? Guide it to higher quality? Or is it all RNGESUS?
The more you put in, the better stuff you get (if you put in the max amount of turrets you're guaranteed one of a higher rarity iirc)
Turret Sizes, frankly there needs to be a way to scale the size of turrets. I'd really like them to be more proportional with the rest of the ship. That's a minor gripe though, and if there is a way to do it please tell me.
Turrets scale with material - Avorion turrets are gigantic, iron turrets tiny
If you make a fleet of ships can they jump with you using your range? Or are we capped to crappy ship ranges?
They jump with their own range at most, which you can extend with system upgrades and hyperspace core blocks to be as large as yours.
Maybe increase the effectiveness/cost of thrusters so you can get the same power with less space. The volume of thrusters I have on my ship while still having it handle like a giant brick is kind of nuts. Plus all the thrusters firing is so bright you can barely tell I'm in a ship and not just a controlled green explosion. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it currently seems like my entire outer hull needs to be thrusters if I ever want to slow down in a meaningful time.
Thruster capacity is currently related to surface, not volume. (that's gonna change in the future) Also, I'm fairly sure you can hide thrusters by putting something on top of them and they'd still work.
I'd like to see more utility turrets too. Like the force turret but maybe energy vampire/gravity well/weapon jamming/mass increaser. Things that do more than just pew pew (not that pew pewing isn't fun) Forgive me if these exist and I just haven't made it far enough.
There are also repair turrets (for shield and hull)

Avorion works fine on my Intel laptop...
And if it bluescreens, the reason for the crash has a fair chance of not being in the logs - after all, it can't write anything to the log after your pc BOD'd.
Does it happen every time?
-
Why must people race to using cheat codes and rushing ahead instead of enjoying the time and effort it takes to get there?
For the same reason creative mode exists, because some people just like building big stuff :P
-
It would be nice if the editor had support for rotating blocks other degrees than 90, or if some kind of diagonal plane/block was predefined - as of now it's very hard to make diagonal elements.
(you can kind of cheat them by making a staircase of edge blocks, but that's both fiddly and laborious)
-
You can find system upgrades (they look like SD cards when you find them) by buying them or looting them. Some of those are turret upgrades, increasing your amount of allowed armed/unarmed/both turrets.
You equip those in the ship menu.
By default you can have 1 armed, 1 unarmed and 1 undetermined turret.
(so 1 armed and 2 unarmed or 2 armed and 1 unarmed)
(armed = weapon, unarmed = mining/salvaging/support/...)
Cheats?

Well, you can enter lines of lua in chat and cheat that way :V
