  1. I think the reason for this is because their in some way more realistic then the realistic space games like space engineers, empyrion, etc where you can go from 100 to 0 in one go. Also remember your going from a high speed to 0 quite fast still. 1/10 a second and 10 seconds is a 100% complete stop is actually quite insane.   2. That would actually be sweet and I assume it keep it running for a bit to let your fleet kind of cross through the wormhole and your friends.

Performance reasons is about 95% of it for MP. @koonschi recommendation: Since you will be digging through all this maybe offer a config option to allow those who want to enable to have it enabled. I know for one if I was playing a tiny small server co-op with friends I would activate it for the fun and thrill of not just making money but the risks of having it afk. Either way once koonschi adds the feature you could just stay logged in the game anyways. But right now server owners Like myself would not want their servers having 1000's of sectors left open :P
  4. If you don't mind do you know your computer specs in detail mainly the CPU? You might have a 64bit Processor that just needs a 64bit install of the OS. Sadly these days of all active steam users it's now under 10% of people that use a 32bit os this including those using windows xp. More and more games are going 64bit for not just memory reasons now but for their future as the games grow and expand. Either way consider looking into upgrading windows in the future if your CPU Can support it.
  5. That would be quite cool. Would it be possible have the option to share resources on or off or some sort of pool (bank) to grab them from? The only reason I say this is some people like to share resources and others don't even in a coop style gameplay. I like to share resources but at the sametime I have a mate who would use them all after I spent the last week mining it all ahha.

  7. So I know Alliance update will come as the next I assume major update in 4-8 weeks but my friends and I kind of want to play now. But we found a really nasty issue with Co-Op Play. That is being able to see your friends on the galaxy map let alone in the same system their really hard to notice and blend in with everyone else especially if you are in a neutral system. What I like to have is 2 features or at least one first maybe 2nd one sometime in the future: 1) The ability to see everyone on the map. Does not need a permissions system or anything like that just to be able to show other players on the galaxy map maybe blinking pink or just yellow and that does not require a radar or anything like that. 2) when you are in a system maybe some how make friends more noticeable with a different color maybe even a special icon to give them some sort of easy access to find them and know who they are in a heartbeat. This will make our co-op experience very enjoyable. If you like also I will video feature the mod on my youtube channel and do a installation video as well. Thank you so much this means a lot!
  8. Both Aki and I can't seem to get the steam portion working. We launched it and still says it's missing and can't find steam blah blah. Even though I see you included in the root and the Linux64 folder it still being a pain on the but. We are both using Ubuntu: Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.14.32-xxxx-grs-ipv6-64 x86_64) My server start: bin/AvorionServer --server-name Stone Legion PvE --galaxy-name StoneLegion --admin 76561197983004951 --seed StoneLegion --same-start-sector false --threads 7 --collision-damage 1 --use-steam-networking true --listed true --public true I know he has a totally diff server start then I do.
  9. Thanks it might take a bit using steamcmd even rebooted it but keep getting: app_update 565060 ERROR! Failed to install app '565060' (No subscription) even though I can see you updated 8 min ago. EDIT I had to use anon was just using my saved login info from before.

  13. Not sure if you want a single thread for each issue or one thread for a bunch of issues are fine. Issue 1: When in chat typing and using an apostrophe (') it opens up the times window? Not sure what that window is but keeps popping up everytime I type :) We can remind it I assume but it should not come up when typing :) Issue 2: /players does not have a comma so hard to tell who is who especially when they have multiple spaces in their name. I recommend also adding maybe a (12) at the start just showing how many are online.

We believe this the software and not our server and is considered normal. Just wait a moment and it could connect then load and be ready to be played. Simple Rules: No Griefing, Smashing into other people blah blah. Be mature. Young people you can play but leave your anger and aggression out the door. This is a PvE Server though if you and your friend want to pvp or agree to others to PvP then it's fine. As time goes on will consider allowing more PvP options. Maybe we can have some sort of flagging system, etc for it. Server Specs: Intel Xeon E3 1245v2 32GB Ram 3x 120GB SSD's

  17. Discord is quite a big thing now and I was wondering should we get one up and running for Avorion? I mean I could easily create one but the truth is I think personally it's best if koonschi creates it at least as he would have ownership / control over it. What do you think koonschi would you be into making a quick Discord server? We can setup a few channels like #general #modding #offtopic we are still a small community so we can leave the channels to a small amount. For people who don't use discord it's mostly used these days for an amazing text chat platform rather then audio. This is like comparing discord to reddit not discord to teamspeak in a sense. For example Factorio almost has 1,000 Members Online that is not counting their offline. Here is an example of their #lua-land chat:

  19. I been updating a few things here and there. I'm sort of new to working on wiki's but I did take the time to updated the Versions History Page: http://wiki.avorion.net/index.php?title=Version_History I included the extra notes and info that patches have I feel their key. They do kind make the frame a bit longer then normal but I really don't see it as a big deal. I think a lot of those notes might be important to some. Feedback is great don't ask me to format all the tables I would not know what to format it too :P
  20. Thank you I assume when you say players you mean physical client in the sector? Either way sounds not too bad it's actually really good. After playing so many games like Space Engineers, and Empyrion and even a bit of Starmade you sneeze and the server is lagging. So far I have had no performance issues myself but for sure looking forward to some sort of simulation of factories and ships like you stated if the users online :)
  21. How taxing is a system footprint wise do you have any kind of numbers? I'm a bit interested in this if you happen to know off the top of your head.

I'm new so don't shoot me but I think the idea of Avorion is you only ever see the exterior and in fact ship building is a feature and part of the game but it's not meant to be the main part of the game. He made it sound like there is already games like Space Engineers, Empyrion, Starmade for those kind of interior decorating plus heck you can walk around your ships on those. Where this game is more about the living galaxy and fighting, trading, pirates, story, missions, ect. So I doubt will ever see actual interiors but I could be wrong :)
  23. It does sound like Koonschi has some sort of plans for the future. It sounds like the Internal clocks would not really work well. It sounds like we almost need some sort of fake simulation happening on a seprate thread and stuff if this is where the game is going. Rather then it physically happening in the game world and being precise it would be maybe simulated in the background with a formula. Unfortunately few people have come to me thinking w as like X3 and their going have production chains and stations, and auto miners, and the works :( Not really going to happen or at least not yet. But I do know Koonschi is going to do something with stations at least.
