I tested this out a little today on stream. You CAN exit your ship and command it to mine for you and it will ignore common asteroids. BUT it can still get attacked and damaged. Logging out of the server has proven that the ship will STILL mine while you are away, but there is no way to protect your tiny ship or the mining ship if there is an attack. So I'm pretty certain that if you setup a ship correctly with a proper protection ship along side, you would be OK. Money is key, so it will be a long time off.

If you recall in the tutorial, the bar changes color when you are flying in the opposite direction than you are facing.

Are you sure its even in the game and not another source? It seems there are about 6 songs that are on constant repeat to me. And yes, I know the pains of having a 4 hour stream silenced 100% for 5 seconds of a song heard. And it's heavily one sided so nothing can be argued against it.

Then it looks like you will doing the 'ol 180 degree turn deceleration. Even more fun when weighted down with cargo, too.

Larger thrusters at the front of the ship help stop more efficiently. This is newtonian physics, the way these space games are meant to be enjoyed. :)
