So one hand:
1000s of solar panels, vastly more credits, vastly more material. Mildly/moderately less mass.
Other hand:
1 generator. Cheaper. Less resources burned. Might not lag. Mildly/moderately more mass.
...looks balanced to me. If anything, I'd say solar panels still don't have enough going for them.

...now my ships compute hyperspace jump routes forever. :(

That would seem to leave one open to accidental dismemberment via collision, no? ;)

You can disable/nerf faction wars in the scripts, also another ways to smoothen things out.
The MP scripting isn't optimised for 10+ players at all, heck even some scripts give 1.5x multiplier for spawns for every extra player in a sector while the whole server still needs to wait for that slowed down sector to update.
Beg pardon, but what's the steps involved in disabling faction wars? Don't get me wrong, I think they're a fun mechanic, but they're really beating up our server performance right now. :/

Begging pardon if this is the wrong place to ask, but I just noticed there's a Public Beta Test server up. What are the rules for that server? How often is it wiped/restarted and so on? I'd be willing to play on it a fair bit, but I'm just wondering how often I'll log in to a shiny new drone. ;)
