  1. With the dawn of torpedoes I have seen an increase in slowdowns  and freezes when smaller blocks are hit. While this issue only effects builders who go for high detail it does pose an issue for players who play on the same server and are in the same area since they are also effected by the freezes and stuttering.

That being said I hope blocks get a serious overhaul so this problem no longer exists.

  2. While this isn't urgent since this only applies to builders who like to make hidden weapons. I feel the torpedo blocks need to have some sort of indicator letting the player know the torpedo port is blocked and will not fire, weather it be a physical message like how you get when you try and place a block in an invalid position or haveing the arrow turn red.

  3. After briefly testing the sector switching mechanics I noticed that after switching back to my original sector a drone was placed in while I was placed in my ship.

EDIT: after messing around with this phenomenon I noticed I was not able to leave my ship nor was I able to jump. I restarted the client and was immediately placed in the mineing drone.

  4. While I'm completely worthless at building ships, I'd like to point out that MonCal ships are very difficult to accurately recreate in Avorion due to how curvy they are, unless we get round blocks in the future.

Id take this as a challenge if I cared about star wars ships. But curves can be done. It's just the ship won't be very powerful  since the blocks would be micro blocks. See my Musai on the WS. It's got a very organic shape but the block count is through the roof and it's very weak for its size, it also lags the game when the nacells get hit because those blocks are .1 and less in size.

cJ7ePBF.jpg While not as curved as the ship you are talking about, and definitely not as curved as my previously mentioned ship you can see the top deck of the bow curves up and then down whiles at the same time curves inwards. In short organic shapes can be done

  5. A button to change root blocks or at least view of what block is the root one. It's very frustrating to be working on a ship with over 20k blocks and  attempting to delete a large selection only to be stopped by "you cannot delete the root block of your ship".

  6. Have you checked what its braking speed is? This heavily influences the top speed at which AI ships go. I have an AI ship with a braking speed of 1500 m/s2 (yeah I know: lots of Inertial Dampeners and front-facing Directional Thrusters), which uses its top speed of 1500 m/s to zoom around Sectors.

I remember reading somewhere here in the forum that the AI doesn't take Inertial Dampeners into account when counting actual braking speed. Btw is there such a stat as "Braking Speed" or is it merely "Brake thrust"?

EDIT: If i recall correctly in the in-game build mode, there's only visible a stat called "Brake Thrust", I wonder does Inertial Dampener add to it?

this is indeed true, the dampeners are not used by the AI, only vernier thruster
  7. Isn't a 1x1x1 block a 1mx1mx1m block? If you're right, then yes, definitely, these are big asteroids. And the point you bring up about empty hull space and delicate parts is a good one.

It's been a while since I looked at the info, but I'm almost certain that's what it says. I could be wrong. It should be on the wiki if you want to fact check me.

EDIT: I was wrong, the 2x2x2 block is 10 meters which should make the 1x1x1 5 meters, either way, they are big stroids

    Actually, a 2x2x2 block has a volume of 8,000m3, which makes it 20m x 20m x 20m. A 1x1x1 block has a volume of 1,000m3, or 10m x 10m x 10m.

    Those asteroids are massive.

So I was right and the wiki is wrong, wooo!

  9. It seems people really seem to forget the scale of the asteroids in avorion iic a 1x1x1 block measures as about 10 meters. I took the smallest asteroid I could find and roughly measured it's length. It came out to about 21 to 22 1x1x1 blocks long or 210 to 220 meters, thats a pretty big rock if you ask me, and it's solid, unlike a space ship which voids and empty space along with a relatively thin hull.

  10. I wouldn't consider that an exploit since the cargo your station bought is technically your property at that point. It would be pretty dumb if you had to buy cargo from your own station. I do however think there should be some sort of cool down period for cargo so you can't just spam stuff like that.

  11. Are you referring to the asteroid basically teleporting to the side a few meters or are you saying the asteroid will just slowly move. The latter of these 2 thing happen because of game physics

your wording leads me to believe you are clipping into the asteroid slightly which does trigger the game to teleport either the ship or the object you are colliding with to a "safe" zone outside of the hit box of both objects. I've seen this happen multiple times when I try to """""dock"""""" my escape pod to my light cruiser.

  12. You dont really "loose" anything. When you die all of the system upgrades and weapons you have on your ship "pop off" and float near the carcass of your ship. You can then go pick up the parts that were dropped since there is pretty much no despawning timer on those things.  The only "real" thing you loose are the money and resources you put into building the ship. This is why you should always have some insurance so you can her reimbursed when you eventually get killed.

  13. Just going to trow in my 2 cents here, while I am against removing boost I do think it should be effected by the hyperspace blockers. I have had points in the game where I am in my tradeing vessel and a decent sized group of pirates or pissed off Xsotan spawn directly on top of my very slow, very vulnerable ship. If I had no boost that ship, the goods, and all the time spent building up to that point will vanish. While this may not sound too bad to a well established player, I would say look at it from the perspective of a new player in a galaxy.

PS: Ulrich_Rüstungjäger, I'm a big fan of your ship work. Loved your Musai-class,Dolos and Oggo from the workshop. While I'm a EFSF boi myself I can always ewnjoy some sieg zeon once in a while :3

I understand that a multipurpose blocker would only be a bandaid, but in a game such as avorion it is always difficult to ballance things such as boost. You could always up the power consumption of the boost so it is more of a punishment than a blessing, but then people would just make ships with larger power supplies to make that null and void.

    PPS

I plan to do fed ships after I finish the main zeon fleet, currently I am working on th chivvey and papua, after that is the Pazock and Gwazine then I will start with the fed bois. Probably with the Colombus class.

  15. I can answer the last part of your question easily, for stations you want a full 120 fighters. Since stations can't make use of system upgrades they can only have 2 weapons on them so useing fighters you can get around that to achieve a very well defended station.
