  1. Better yet, use the screenshots and videos already made by users and give them credit for it.

Make a public competition for users to make the best 2min trailer they can. Give a free copy of the game to the chosen one and to the 2 runner-ups so they can invite someone else to the game. That would be increasing publicity during the process and it would probably be cheaper than hiring someone.

You could give some hints what you'd prefer to be covered in the trailer.

Offtopic edit: That username... Juhziz's Jarmen Kell was my favorite unit in all RTS games. Maybe sharing the place with Seraphim Sele-istle (their Tech 1 air scout).

  2. I think a first-person view and tighter flight controls would be necessary to fully take advantage of it though. With turret locked weapons it's difficult to tell where your exact point of aim actually is.

The indicator(s) would show where you need to click with your cursor for the projectile to hit the center of volume (or mass or whatever is easier to code). Seeing that, you could shoot a bit to the left to hit something on the left side.

But 3rd-person view shouldn't make much of a difference. It's like piloting a bigger ship with your weapons further down and forward and your cockpit where your camera is. And that's why I like those circular indicators for each weapon. They show you which direction your weapons are shooting from and how far they are.

  3. A bunch of hits that all happen in a short time period result in one big hit.

If that one big hit happens while an enemy shield is low, the shield will negte ALL of it before disappearing.

Try mounting 5-10 railguns for example and get an enemy whose shield remains up but low after the first hit. The second hit won't do any health damage, but will take down the shield.

    Sooo... Chain fire?

While this is selected, All selected weapons that aren't cooling down fire in sequence. This wouldn't apply to weapons with fire rate over 4 shots per second. Those would just fire constantly.

  4. Well naturally, there would be a dead-zone in the center. And it's not that hard to set up.

Anyway, how does this "air resistance" work? How much do the objects slow down over time? Is it a specific amount of force? Percentage of speed and some flat speed? Or some other formula?

Figure that out and you eliminate the ping-ponging.

    Or just trial-and-error.

  5. Is it possible to make a 4 ships with "force push" turrets and inertia dampeners and order them to fire at the station all the time?

The ships would stay in place, right? And if you place them in tetraedar formation with the station in the middle... Well, you get the point.

  6. Such a wonderful idea !

I once made a station with a giant external yard with four antennae to try to make a cubic shield to protect ships inside the yard, but it didn't work :(.

Even putting holograms didn't change the shape of the shield, so d'oh, I'll have to wait for shield configurability changes.

Now, THAT's a wonderful idea! Wow... The tactical possibilites that offers... And it might even look good!

  7. Those 8 stations that activate the portal...

After I collected all 8 upgrades, I tried:

    - pressing F to interact

    - increasing the size and CPU power of my ship to fit all at once

    - getting to the exact center between them so I'm equally far from each

    - checking if I can drop an upgrade near a station to make it collect the upgrade

    - damaging a station

I've noticed there's a light on the tip. However, I assumed that light is just not rendering on other stations due to distance.

So I went to the Wiki to find out how to do it -.-

Suggestion: Make it more clear that the station is resonating with the installed upgrade in a nearby ship. Some charging animation, a weak version of the beam, some "empowering" sound, etc.

  8. Most of the NPCs I've met don't offer much else but "kill me/us to get the reward".

I would like to offer them an option not to become salvage material. And maybe even get on good terms with them.

The AI seems like an interesting thing to talk to. Its race traits also suggest that. Except doesn't respond to much else but shooting it.

Bottan and his crew seem to want to live risk-free more than anything else. There should be an option to just drop their destroyed jumpdrive and I let them live. If I feel generous, I could even let them have their Suspicious Goods.

M.A.D. research sattelites could initiate a conversation if you have an artifact equipped. Maybe you end up trading one of your duplicate artifacts for theirs (already researched, so they don't need it much).

Some intimidation options would scale with your firepower.

Some persuasion options could scale with the cost of your ship/fleet.

And of-course, you could always bribe a specific ship into not attacking you. Especially pirates. Cost scaling with the price of their ship (turrets included).

  9. So far, I've collected all artifacts but the VII. I resorted to checking for guides on the Internet (something I rarely do). Turns out you need to destroy 4 M.A.D. sattelites and that spawns the boss.

    Stuff I've tried with those:

    - contacting them

    - flying about in the sector, trying to get it to notice me

    - mining (stealing the resources it's watching)

    - getting angry aliens there and saving it from them

    - lowering the reputation to minimum (thought this might spawn a boss)

    - destroying it

    - salvaging every last bit of it

    - salvaging every last bit of another one from it's full HP

I've also tried a lot of other random stuff with other places in the game, completely unrelated to the sattelites. Like grinding down a pirate shipyard or going to strange-looking parts of the map. I enjoy solving stuff like that. That's how I got the other artifacts (and found some glitchy stuff).

But I've destroyed 2 of those sattelites and I recieved no hints that anything is about to change. Fair conclusion was that they are just there to farm upgrades (as one NPC had told me).

I suggest putting some hints in-game that destroying those is not futile. Like that boss contacting you in a rude manner when you first damage a sattelite. And doing so with a different conversations on every next sattelite. Much like Bottan says "You again" the second time. When things change, you know you're doing something (be it useful or harmful to you).

  10. I reported this questline as bugged and received "It's yet unfinished" to my email.

Bottan's engineer, "A Friend" is offering you a jumpdrive upgrade after you deal with Bottan.

I suggest it to be a choice. Either a legendary Hyperspace Upgrade with almost the best stats it can get OR the only jump calculation speed upgrade in the game.

Not both and certainly not what Bottan himself had because you actually destroyed his jumpdrive with the Hyperspace Overloader.

  11. I wanted to bump an existing topic, but got warned that it would be necroing... So, quoting some:

After wasting countless hours trying to find an Ammunition S/M/L Factory S/M/L/XL/XXL and having little to no luck (only one I found had Ammunition S and L but no M which I needed!) for QoL reasons we really need a search function for the sector map.

Trying to find things at the moment is painfully hard! Makes trading and crafting quite frustrating.(...)

I'd definitely like to be able to search all the sectors I've actually jumped into, no question.(...)

At least let me search the notes I made!

Edit: As Ravien pointed out, it exists! My bad. But it could be made more visible.
