  1. What happens:  I enter a game and immediately begin editing a ship.  Keep in mind, I've done this about fifteen times now, just tonight, no joke or exaggeration here.  Sometime within the first two or three minutes of editing my ship, adding and deleting blocks, the game closes, no cmd window, nothing.  It's infuriating.

How to reproduce it:  It just seems to happen when I edit a ship in any way, shape or form.  There's no particular kind of block that I delete to make it happen or adding or removing or dimension changing or anything.  It just seems to happen when I'm editing a ship in general.

    Log is attached.

  2. I found that after the first few times that aliens spawned in it got -very- repetitive.  Why can't they sometimes just spawn in without a warning, like pirates do?  Different entries for the warning spawning would be nice too, instead of the whole "strange subspace signal" thing happening over and over again in 5 minute intervals.

I know it's already been said before, but the enemy ships are very slow.  Perhaps make smaller, faster, weaker variants that generate, different classes and such.  Tiny and fast, big and well-armored, medium-sized and all-rounders.

  3. So what we have here is Betsy, Cyclops B, Cyclops IIB, and Storage I.  Betsy is only a tiny bit larger than a drone.  If you fire any sort of gun from it it flies back, so it's mainly used for remote mining in lonely systems.  Cyclops B was originally the Cyclops I, but the B is a clone made after a failure in combat.  It was my first ship ever made.  Cyclops II was my second ship, made two days after the first, and much better in general.  It also suffered a combat mishap, so I remade it, and thus is has been deemed the IIB.  Storage was actually my fourth ship, after Betsy, and was originally intended to be literal storage...  But then it turned into the multi-layered armored behemoth it is now.  Invulnerable to anything but energy weapons, all of its weaponry is front-facing.  800-ish rating for all weapons combined.  Betsy and Cyclops B are the most maneuverable, and I still have a few kinks to iron out with IIB and Storage.  Storage is also very much unfinished.  I intend to put a tower on it like I have on Cyclops IIB.

Anyway, I'd really recommend Cyclops IIB just because of how neat it looks.  It's got the look of an old ship that's been retrofitted and updated for modern use.

I'll make a chain of posts with my ships in them, starting with Betsy.

There's no need to pay any attention to any of my posts below, and I will edit them accordingly.

  4. I've got a few really, really small ships and I find it odd that a captain for those are paid just as much as a captain is paid for a huge, ginormous ship.  I can understand more for gunners because they all do the same thing, but I think that payments could scale based on size of the vessel for captains.  It makes sense if you think about it, in my opinion, because you would pay a captain less for a smaller vessel but it would also be less useful in most applications, especially fighting.

  5. So I have two ships, and the bigger one I built second, but I use it mostly.

Every time I log in I log into the original ship, the smaller one, and I want to start out in the big ship.  This leaves me in a bit of a pickle, because I have to bring the smaller ship everywhere I go to make sure I can get into the big one, but I don't want to lose the little ship to raiders, which means I can't really go bounty hunting unless I have a guarantee I'll be able to get back or have enough time to IRL.

Any idea how to make it so you log into a different ship than the first one you built as soon as you get on?

  6.     Since there are different factions in the game and all of the ships are randomly generated, hence their strange look (in my opinion, and it's not a bad thing), I was wondering how it would be to take player suggestions for ships.  A forum section, perhaps, for faction ship input and suggestions.

Players would make ships in a specific style and post them to the forums where others could see them and vote on them, maybe, and then the game creators could sometimes sift through and find ones that fit with the specific style that is needed, or maybe tweak them a touch.  That way the game could have some more stylistically intricate ships, and the developers wouldn't have to work on them all.

Procedural generation of ships is good and all, but there's only so much true variation you can have before it gets a little same-y, and it would be nice to see some player-made ships in the game, if at all possible.
