  1. You can always hit f2 to change the camera mode. The controls for piloting are different but it could help?
  2. I'm so excited to see the mods coming out! Also... that bit where you can scrap turrets is a huge +. Will make building turrets much more doable I think!
  3. I have nearly done this as well during this fight. They should remain neutral until you go through the dialogue for sure!!
  4. The last i played it also affected my station and mine ship once I had jumped 5 times after leaving that sector.

  6. I think it could be good, especially the time consuming aspect, depending on size.

What if there was an approach similar to EVE's planetary industry system, where you can build a planetary industry station which is tethered to the planet and it can produce either raw/refined ore, credits from trade, or even certain goods in mass quantity. The station you build would basically be a space elevator top piece station where the owner can designate what ground based industry they want to have. The types of industries and their effectiveness could be determined by the planet quality, planet type, and planet size. This could also be a way for the player to actually claim space, allowing that sector and surrounding sectors to be owned by the player/faction. The game mechanics could change where you can only build trading stations in NPC territory, but all other stations would require the player/faction to actually own space. Police or patrol vessels could be designed and automatically patrol systems with owned stations once a military outpost is built. This could also open up a whole new mechanic to diplomacy towards NPCs and other players/factions based on trade and border friction.

  9. I would not be a fan of fuel honestly. It would be an uneccicary grind feature that would only hinder progression.
  10. Cant wait to try this update out later today and listen to the new music!. Mining can effectively be much more efficient now, and makes the design of mining ships more than a stick covered with miners and thrusters! I think the changes to cost for the number of ships is good, and will help balance mega alliances from having a doom armada. On the note of balance, Will there be any change coming to help balance out the bigger is better meta? Currently 15 slot ships can be built to handle just as well as a 3 slot ship with a higher top speed and many more slots. Keep up the great work!! Edit: removed a dumb question

  14. I think that acceleration could be a good part solution as well. The only thing that you have to be careful of is the straifing acceleration provided by thrusters. If you limit the forward acceleration by a ton, but do nothing with the thruster acceleration, you can end up with a ship that straifs faster than small ships can go forward and accelerate just as fast given enough thrust. That also brings into consideration of how good breaking thrust would be. It would make inertia blocks much more valuable. But definately think that rotational limits are the way to go for a part fix to the bigger is better meta. And thanks!! :)
  15. So one thing I've noticed is that it's always better to have a bigger ship in this game. Large ships have the ability to have a much higher top cruising speed than small ships which makes little sense. I feel like the mass of the ship should greatly effect maximum cruise speed of ships, making heavy large ships have a much slower speed, while smaller ships are much faster and can hit and run while not being overloaded with weapons. Currently large ships are so much better at hit and run because they are faster, and can fit a nightmarish array of long range weaponry with no real downside. Additionally, for balance's sake, I think that the rotational cap of a ship should depend on a ship's slot size. It's a little silly when you have super star destroyers sized ships turning 4rad/s and are faster than smaller ships that are 50% engine. An example of rotational Caps: Ship slot size - Yaw/Pitch/Roll 1 - 4 rad/s 2 - 4 rad/s 3 - 4 rad/s 4 - 4 rad/s 5 - 3.75 rad/s 6 - 3.25 rad/s 7 - 2.5 rad/s 8 - 1.75 rad/s 9 - 1 rad/s 10 - 0.85 rad/s 11 - 0.7 rad/s 12 - 0.5rad/s 13 - 0.4 rad/s 14 - 0.3 rad/s 15 - 0.2 rad/s These are just example values, they could be different. Players would still need to equip maneuvering blocks to get their ship to rotate, there would just be upper caps depending on ship size. Alternatively, volume could be the factor for limiting a ships rotation. Overall, I think this would help pvp and pve, as players won't be relying purely on huge overpowered ships. It would enable massive warships to be swarmed and outmaneuvered by smaller light ships, making them useful.
  16. I still think this would be a great quality of life addition to the game. Many other games out there, that do well, have advanced world options like this. Either way the game is still enjoyable as is, but it would still be cool trying different galaxies such as resource scarce systems, super rich and deadly enemies, ect. As you said, it would also be a benefit for those with lower tier PCs, so they wouldn't run into trouble when getting into a dense system.
  17. I'm down for pulse lasers!!! Especially for PD Lasers. I think in general lasers and teslas should get some sound files for them as well. Missile turrets and cannon turrets projectiles should travel a lot faster as well imo. More ideas for weapons could be: Plasma stream thrower - Fires a stream of plasma in a 1 to 2 second burst at high velocity with medium-long reload time - Appears like a laser beam when firing, but has very fast projectile travel time - Great at melting off armor blocks and bonus shield damage - Large Caliper with long range Kinetic Piledriver Cannon - Works similar to a cannon, but deals less damage and high projectile velocity/very low rate of fire - Highly kinetic impact can alter the target ship's alignment as the reactive force generates enough energy to move the ship (dependant on Mass) - Smaller ships hit by this weapon tend to spin wildly out of control until stableized and can hit asteroids if in an asteroid belt. - Large Caliper, long range An alternative to pulse cannon - Nanite Cannon - Basically the exact same as pulse cannons, but give them a damage over time effect and duration - No damage to shields, high chance to penetrate shields - Low damage overall, but damage over time from continuous fire will eat away at the ships hull. - Small caliper with medium range
  18. +1 I'd find it really helpful for the goods and trading as well, as I am always alt tabbing when trading to look at goods ect. I could see it being a valuable quality of life feature, even though not neccessary.
  19. I have noticed that when building on the beta branch there is an issue with the block bar at the bottom of the screen when building. When you use the mouse wheel to scroll to higher tier blocks (mouse wheel down as I recall) the list becomes empty for me and the only way I can get items to return to the list is by using the mouse wheel to scroll in the opposite direction. You can theoretically still use the mouse wheel to get to the list of blocks at the bottom, as it still registers the amount you are scrolling, but you have to go one "scroll level" past what you are after in order to see the blocks in the block bar. Hope the description helps, as it is mainly a nuisance for me, but could really throw off newer players if it doesn't get fixed.
  20. Don't think its a bug, but put a big flat plate of stone at the front of your ship facing him and you won't loose hull to him :). His damage is insanely strong but it is lightning, so no damage to stone blocks. Also, not sure how, but I was able to get one of the guns this guy has... and man is it OP lol.

  22. The combat update is amazing so far. Some great Turrets showing up in the workshop. Having fun experimenting with building some designs of my own . I have found a new bug on my new play through however. If the designed turret size = the turret base block size exactly, for some reason the ship will occasionally not jump you into a calculated system, but instead eject you in your drone in the middle of the system. You will then have to fly back to where your ship was in that same system. The turret design/turret block of the same sizes will have reset after this also, making you have to redesign it, which is pretty easy now thanks to the amazing organization of the new saved designs! I endes up just designing a new ship with bigger turret base blocks than the turret size and I haven't seen this happen again yet. I'm very impressed overall though. Keep it up, Avorion devs! Crossing my fingers that we will have ovoid shields which fit our ships' max dimensions and have splash effects when hit one day :). *crosses fingers Edit: Hmm it seems it happened again. So the bug isn't related to the size of the base and the size of the block. Not sure what causes it then
  23. Adding color would be a nice finalizing touch to the game imo, but should be pretty low priority if they chose to do it I would think. However, I also agree that the shields should be able to be ovoid-ed around ships. Adding splash impacts where something hits would also be tremendously amazing visually. This would for sure make computation of shields and their hitboxes easier using that equation, as well as look cooler imo. Crossing my fingers that the devs see this... or maybe a modder out there somewhere.
