Freighters and wreckages - do they really have cargo in cargo blocks

I have a feeling that nor cargo ships, nor wreckages have their cargo in the right blocks.

Because I often see as my friend destroys a small block when salvaging wreck or destroying pirate station and this block emits a huge amount of cargo.

 

If I'm right, is this a bug, or that was intented?
