Tchey
I tried ingame and didn't see difference, just to be sure : if i build an engine, a cargo bay, or whatever, is it the same result to have one single big block, and several smaller ones, if the final volume is the same ? Boxelware Team koonschi Posted November 22, 2016 Boxelware Team Share Posted November 22, 2016 There are some blocks where it does make a difference. Cargo bay blocks have an internal wall thickness, so building bigger ones is more efficient. Other blocks' stats scale with surface area, such as thrusters (but that's going to be changed soon, their volume will factor in) and solar panels (won't be changed, but we'll do something about layering super thin solar panels). For mass, energy generation (exception: solar panels) or consumption, shield or health it doesn't make a difference though. Edge blocks and corner blocks count with their respective volume, of course.
gn_leugim
such as thrusters (but that's going to be changed soon, their volume will factor in) I shall say goodbey to my super agile ships then :(
Tchey
So if i understand well, it means a "long" 1x20 engine (a tube with the burning part being 1x1), is as effective as as "thin" 4x5 engine (a flat ass with a 4x5 burning part), and as effective as two 1x10 tubes engines ? gn_leugim
In shot yes, I believe so thats right. same volume, same effect. But the way you distribute those blocks may effect other aspects of ship performance, specially thrusters as may change the overall shape and mass distribution of the ship.
