game crashes when opening the map

i have about 100 hours into my first galaxy, and i hadn't experienced any game breaking bugs till this morning. there haven't been any updates for a couple days, so i don't think my problem stems from the last patch, if i were to guess. anywho, there i was, docked at a research station doing nothing out of the ordinary. then suddenly the game crashes for no discernible reason. i guessed that maybe there was just a hiccup or something weird, so i loaded the game back up and when i tried to interact with the research station the game crashed again. so then i guessed that it had something to do with the station. when i loaded the game up again, instead of interacting with the station, i flew off and headed towards the nearest gate. after about a minute the game crashed again. i tried again a few mores times, and each time the game just closes after about a minute, give or take. im not sure what the common thread is there.

 

after all that, i decided that something must be wrong with that save file. i started a new galaxy, but this time the game crashes every time i try to open the map. strange...

 

so then i decide to go back to my first galaxy and see if the map crashes the game there too. unfortunately, the map works fine in the first galaxy, but not the second.

 

what the heck?  :o

Whoa, scary :o ! As always, post the client and server logs to allow the developers to find the source of the problem, or use the bug tracker.

thanks for the heads up kamo. im running ubuntu linux 16.04. cpu is AMD Athlon 860K Quad Core. and my gpu is GeForce GTX 750 Ti. from the galaxy where the map keeps crashing, the client log gives a bunch of errors towards the bottom:
