Specify turret targets by type (reducing chance of misfire)

Rayleigh

Suggestion

So i was having a bit of trouble with capital guns trying to hit fighters the other day, and just thought; "wouldnt it be great if my cannons didnt try to attack fighters 20km away, only to misfire and hit some friendly ship or station ?"

This problem is quite annoying since when a enemy faction attacks my friendly faction, i hesitate to assist since i basicly loose most of my standing when in the middle of it, because of friendly fire due to wrong guns attacking the wrong targets.

A simple solution to reduce chance of misfire for weapons would perhaps be to be able to specify target groups for each individual weapons group.

For instance you could set your cannons to only attack stations, or ships, perhaps choose targets by volume or omicrons.

You could set point defence weapons to only attack missiles, and anti-fighters to only attack fighters, all other weapons would never try to shoot fighters unless you would toggle it.

Thoughts ?

Personally I think, that PDC and flak should only attack torpedoes and fighters, and all regular weapons should only attack ships and stations, unless directly ordered to attack the selected target. There's simply no point to allow turrets automatically engage targets they're not meant to work against.
