So it seems to be okay from that side of things. As far as sniffing, I'm not sure if there's someway else I should check, I checked ports online from this site: http://www.ipfingerprints.com/portscan.php options were - connect(), Don't Ping, UDP Scan and got these results: Host is up. For some reason UDP packets either don't get sent out, or received. The reason for that is usually security configurations, such as firewalls. Could be windows, could be your router, could be a virus scanner. The problem is, it's impossible for me to tell remotely :/ It'd be interesting to see if packets are sent out or received. I get errors on server console on a dedicated server sitting in the middle of datacenter even with my firewall off. I kind of given up on that. I just know when clients try connecting it says connecting for 15-30 seconds not sure what is happening then it lets them on. I wonder what we lose out from not having UDP support. I'll also try turning it off entirely tomorrow. Do you have an sort of traffic monitoring programs in mind that I could check traffic on the ports? Can you start the server with the additional command line arguments "-t network"? (without the quotes) It should log every single networking interaction. Because I've just been doing it through the game menu and there's no option for command line. Or do I just edit and run the server.bat from the Avorion install folder? What I did do just now was edit the server.bat to add in the "-t network" and load the existing server. Still had the same results. However when I checked the dedicated server menu in game it told me that the server was running, but the reliable information about the server couldn't be found. All of the boxes of server info/settings were blank. If I start it up from in game, I still get the same stuff as before. Boxelware Team koonschi Posted January 25, 2017 Boxelware Team Share Posted January 25, 2017 The real, proper way is doing it via command line, since you have the most options there. the problem, however, is that the windows command line is not that great to work with and as a result the command line for the windows server can't accept commands (working on that). The linux version can. Apart from that, users usually don't like the command line, which is understandable, since it's unfamiliar and you have to know in advance what you can do. The UI is basically a tool that adds command line arguments to the server when starting it up. The -t networking commands are for debugging purposes only, so they're not in the UI. I think a line where you can add custom command line arguments in the dedicated server window would be in order. Considering the log: The server is not receiving packets, meaning packets get lost on their way to the server. Can you post the client log that corresponds to this server, where you tried to log in? Got the same stuff connecting to my external IP. For giggles did my local IP and it connects. Had SadisticSweety attempt to connect to it, nothing in the log either. So the only connection info you'll see on the server is when I connected with my local IP. Logs for all below. Boxelware Team koonschi Posted January 25, 2017 Boxelware Team Share Posted January 25, 2017 Im almost 100% sure that either your router, windows firewall or virus scanner (those all have firewalls) are blocking incoming UDP packets to your server. More of a personal note: I have the same issue with my router, my router's model doesn't support port forwarding but its UI lets me make forwarding configurations, without actually doing anything. Can your friend join via the steam friend list if you host a game? Can you try that and post the logs of that? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

And here's how I had them listed: 27000 thru 27003 TCP/UDP 27020 thru 27021 TCP/UDP And decided.. okay I'll put them in separate, just for the hell of it. 27000 TCP/UDP 27003 TCP/UDP 27020 thru 27021 TCP/UDP ....and it works. I even have Sadistic connected to it. I didn't think there'd be any harm in adding a few extra ports to the range... I guess there was. :/ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
