Long "lag" after ordering ship to repeatedlyjump into undiscovered green sectors

I've ordered one of my ships to jump into a number of undiscovered sectors discovered by my ships with a Radar Upgrade. And while doing so repeatedly, my game experienced the worst "lag" I could ever imagine. When this happens, I get a wait time of nearly five minutes. And the more my explorer ship jumps, the more longer this "lag" becomes.

I tried restarting the game world via return to main menu and/or restarting  the game client and the "lag" bug has somewhat reverted. But the problem resurfaces again after my ship continues with their jumping orders into unknown sectors. Even worse: New problems come to fruition after I restarted the world via return to main menu. Sometimes I get this "Sector not loaded into server" error despite being in a singleplayer game and the UI is featuring old UI jump orders when I tried to fix my explorer ship's jump route.

Please look up to then when ordering an explorer ship to...explore tons of sectors. Because this a serious performance issue here.

(PS: Also, I've noticed that every time this occurs, my CPU usage spikes nearly up to 100%. I'm considering of upgrading my CPU, to see if this might reduce this "lag.")

System Specs

  • Windows 10
  • AMD FX-6300 (considering of upgrading)
  • NVIDIA GTX 960

I'm not sure why a client log would be necessary for performance diagnostics because it only contains console info. But here it is anyways:

(Previous session paste; I think this might be the game where I experienced the longest lag while discovering new sectors)

If the game encounters an issue, it will dump debug and error info into the logs.  The one that I think is most likely to include something of use would be the server log, but it's good to include the client one as well cause you never know.

You mean a "crash," as stated in the "Read This First" thread which requires a log. But this report is related to performance issues.

Still, I have the server log here. If reading console log is what could diagnose this bug which is only related to the game performance, well hopefully it could mean something:

Hey, I just noticed a thread over in the Steam forums where someone was reporting (possibly) similar issues to you.  They noted something about the hangs being related to ship jumps and attempting to move to that sector after.  Not sure if it's the same/related.  At one point they were wondering if the ship involved having a 0s cool down could be part of the cause, but I don't think they tested that angle further.

Really? I see that the developer is also looking into it. Hopefully it is the case there.

By the way, I was playing singleplayer.

  • 2 weeks later...

I think the causes may be even more varied, but seems to be happening when calculating warp jumps and during the actual jump itself.

Tried our server now on 2 completely different hardware set ups and the results are identical; server runs for about an hour or so, then we get regular 'hangs' of about 5-10 seconds.

I'll post the logs from work tomorrow.

Still, this hasn't stopped me playing this game and putting in 68 hours in the last 8 days :P

(Loving your work!)
