Well it's hard to say actually, but I guess it won't be done in under 3 weeks. Might be earlier, might be later. There's a lot of stuff that changed from DirectX to OpenGL and I have to do immense testing to check that everything's alright. I don't want to release only buggy versions ;)

I don't have a running build right now. I'm in the middle of the OpenGL port. I don't think you want a build where the ships are not distinguishable from the asteroids and the game randomly crashes.

Well it's pretty clear who's more beligerant on the forum. Glad to say it's not me.

Dear DoomAngelBlade,

We're all just as excited and impatient for the next update. But screaming around here won't help with anything. Maybe you should think of trying to help? Get some more people to play the current version of the game. Increase the number of members on the forum. Spread the word about the game in any way. Try to volunteer to help out koonschi with testing or idk, whatever he needs.

Do something useful and productive! ;)

Until around 4 weeks ago I haven't had time to work on Avorion, I had to focus on university.

 

But there will be quite a lot of new content with the next update.

Version 0.5 will include

- crews (engine, repair, miners, gunners)

- server adminstration features for banning/whitelisting players

- server chat commands

- a lot of improvements for modding, like callbacks and a modding API documentation

- player fleet, turret and diplomacy overview and menus, a mailing system

- player ship and crew menus

- new station: repair dock

- new station: scrapyard

- gameplay changes, money will no longer be collectible by mining asteroids, changing sectors was remade

- better graphics: like bloom, better backgrounds and more particle effects

- pirates

- a difficulty level

- More HUD elements for accessing menus

- starting sectors have more content

- asteroids have a sparkling effect when they contain resources

- much bigger stations

- factions have their own territories

- Overall bugfixes and performance improvements

 

... That's about all that I can remember. But a more detailed list will be published on release of the next version.
