General content ideas

Hey All,

 

New-ish player here, probably around 40+ or so hours played thus far and only just recently got into Naonite blocks so I apologize if any of this already exists later on though it didn't appear so. I also trolled around the forums a tad to see if anyone else had the same ideas but didn't find anything quite the same.

 

Anyway, had a few ideas and wanted to share.

 

General

- Allow players to reset spawn locations at stations with good or grater reputation standing. I can think of a couple reasons why you should not be able to reset respawns locations but for me that has been a major frustration. Usually I have enough minerals to rebuild a ship, but then spend hours of my time manually jumping between sectors just to get back to the same spot. I’d much rather pay a station a handsome fee and be able to respawn from a closer location. Maybe one that has to be manually set by the player as they visit a station.

 

Economy/Industry

- Allow players/alliances to form “businesses” in which resources can be pooled, stations and ships can be created on behalf of a corporation, and permissions to ships and resources can be delegated.  Maye this can be a function of “Alliances”

 

- Establish a mechanism for manufacturing and producing of trade goods or crafting materials that could be used for both crafting and trading purposes

 

Construction/Blocks

- Communications array (Block): Make this required for communication with far away stations and ships within the same sector. Possibly grants the ability to give orders to ships in players fleet from adjacent sectors, range determined by size. I do realize sectors without players in them deactivate after some time

 

- Gun Control Deck (Block): Improve Accuracy/Range/Damage based on size of block

 

- Mineral processing plant (Block): Used to increase mining efficiency or yields based on size of block

 

- Escape Pods (Block): To let crew escape from a ship upon destruction and be reclaimed later

 

-      Spherical Blocks: Sometimes I want some curves on my ship :)

 

-      How about adding some fun looking accessories to the block list; Satellite dishes, antennas, tesla coils, spotlights, lighting, neon signs, and custom/faction bases logos to the ship building parts. Just some odds and ends of blocks that add a little personal flare. :)

 

-      create a "Replace part with" option in the ship building/block options: I find myself upgrading my ship quite a lot and it would be nice if it were possible to highlight a block and choose to "replace" it with a an identical block using a different mineral type. This might be difficult to implement but it would save me tons of time upgrading ships. This may also help if you want to rebuild your favorite ship but don't have all the minerals required from later tiers.

 

Weapons and Combat

- Call for reinforcements from an allied faction. Should only be attainable with maxed out rep, or other difficult means so it does not become over used or overly powerful. Should also limit the number of reinforcement calls in a single sector for a given faction at one time. Should also limit the distance from home territory that a faction would travel in order to assist.

 

- Tractor Beam (Unarmed Turret): Allow for capture and or towing of wrecked ships to either be reclaimed at a shipyards or salvaged from relative safety

 

Environment

- Add content to some “empty” sectors. Empty sectors should have something worth exploring on occasion.

 

- Allow local scanning within a sector: Could be broken down into sub categories for Mining, Combat, or Anomalies. Local sector scanning could be used to highlight minerals, enemies or other points of interest within a sector.

 

- Multiple Signal types on galaxy map:  Make more than one type of signal that is detected by ships scanners on the world map. Possible signal types could be based on number of ships/player signals in a sector, abundance of mineral deposits, or space anomalies like wormholes and other mysterious stellar objects.

 

- Gas Deposits: Create Gas deposits around the galaxy that can be harvested and turned into trade goods or crafting materials? I think this would supplements the tedious nature of mining a little bit by adding variety to types of harvesting one could do.

 

Server & Administration

-Auto Save on server close condition

Can I add

 

- Target nearest wreck

 

- More commands for fighters + corresponding AI: Salvage, Mine, Escort/Guard Target

And tweakable settings such as: set follow range

 

- Make salvage turrets have bonus damage to wrecks

 

- Make mining and salvage turrets have a cone/aoe effect (it's a pain trying to pin down a tiny 0.2x0.2x0.2 pyramid bit of scrap*)

 

- More filters for turrets in build mode

 

*You may say, 'don't bother' - but last night I got an orange turret off one of these damn slivers.

All great additions if you ask me  :D

 

I also have trouble trying to harvest those last little fragments but I tend experience it with mining mostly and especially in bigger sized ships when the aiming reticle's spaz all over the place.

 

Would adding an AOE effect result in the beams being larger in diameter or just make the impact effect a larger surface area? I like the idea but I think it could introduce some balance issues if not worked out right.

 

Maybe this is something that can be introduced as a ship upgrade? This would open pathways for further specializing your ships for specific tasks which I am a huge fan of.

Fantastic ideas.

I love the Gas part.

I was coming to the forums to suggest it as well.

it could be placed around those Awesome planets in those rings of asteroids.

 

It would be nice if some of the Shipyards featured certain ships.  Either race or faction.

 

Would also be nice if we could take some of the user content and put it into those shipyards as a purchase as well.

More for RP then game function.
