  1. X is not the front :) X = Right Y = Up Z = Look (front) However AFAIK it is not a given, that ships center position is in it's bounding box center, so for some ships this position would be too close to the station. To calculate that properly, the frontmost block should be found and use it's position & size as a distance instead of half of the ship along it's forward axis.
  2. Depending on how desperate you are, there is also this: https://lg.io/2015/07/05/revised-and-much-faster-run-your-own-highend-cloud-gaming-service-on-ec2.html
  3. I think there is a deeper problem here. As of right now, you can't easily use such templates and experiment with them. There is no way to select large sections of the ship, move it away, put some other blocks or templates, reattach what you had, shift other stuff a bit... Your idea is great and I would like very much, to get some templates from reputable shipwright to help me out creating just pale imitations of awesome creations I can see here on the forum, but lacking more tools for manipulating those, I don't know if could do much.
  4. You can hit `V` key to zero current thrust (it can also go from 0 to max or -max).
  5. @koonschi, can you elaborate on this part little bit? I am currently experimenting with ship to ship docking by means of adding one vessel's plan to the other and wonder if such mod would be redundant (especially because this approach has some quirks/disadvantages). Edit: ok, nvm I see this question was just answered http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,1518.msg7119.html#msg7119
  6. There is a keyboard control scheme with most of that (no strafing), that you can toggle using `F2`.
