Klebam

Hi, So I am new to Avorion but I went through a gate and for some reason the entire sector was moving away from me (asteroids and warp gate were moving when I wasn't and quite fast) and I tried my best to catch up using engines but I eventually smacked into something that I was attempting to head away from. Is this a mechanic or a bug? I am really confused and it killed my interest to stop playing for the night and will try again another day. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!
