  1. Another small piece of advice is to start small(ish). By that i mean start off building smaller ships. As your building skills increase you can take on larger projects that require more and more detail. Plus, as a learning player, your tastes and preferences can be better incorporated into your own designs as you better understand mechanics and do not wind up frustrated. As well, keep in mind that is game - especially ship design - is highly nuanced. Scan the forums for ideas in design, and enjoy yourself. Me? Well, i really like this game. The Devs are doing a fab job !!
  2. Great builds Well done
  3. Cool ideas I especially like the idea of trial and error, on a per galaxy basis. I wonder if your "factory" could retain the "characterstics" of the trials? Again, part of the idea is to make certain sectors flash points where these super expensive player built structures are built. 8)
  4. Someone already quoted and agreed to this ... I also agree, and think this would a be a cool feature. Bump !! Good idea Cralis. On the topic of wounded ... Not sure how great this would be. Besides, if you have a good shield, you would not have injuries, per se. But - if you get thru shields ... Well apart from wounded, if your ship is Dead - then everyone is Dead, so i am unsure how this coded mechanic (feature) would enhance the game in any interesting/valuable way.
  5. Yes, yes. All good points. However, i like "Random". And here's why. I would not typically gamble with good stats, good feature weapons. Instead, the Lab is my opportunity to grind up all the garbage i pick up, and have a fresh chance for something cool. Please. Do not change a thing :)
  6. Hmm ... This suggestion, i think, may be a radical game changer. I am wondering about the possibilities of alloying materials may mean. And before responding, if i may suggest ... Think about the implications ... Alloying - of course - should be extremely expensive, and, i am guessing would be a coding nightmare for the devs. However, i think the idea has "some" potential and could possibly give allinances something to fight over. Such as - Alloying Factories are only player built, and ... And a variety of requirements that would render them vulnerable, yet worthwhile to have. Thoughts? :8
  7. Exactly, Fox By higher illumination, i should have been specific ... Instead of a Sun illuminating the single sector, perhaps the sector could cast an ambient glow, so that all angles of the ship would be illuminated, and all shadow being eliminated, by affect.
  8. To counter the "spin spin spin", i just edge in closer and bladt away. Eventually, i will be close enough and there spinning with whip against my ships bow, and the spin spin spin stops. Well ... Stops until i blast away again :) Hilarious fun !!
  9. Or ... Design a ship with tonnes of braking power
  10. Or ... Download a ship that has the properties you like and then take it apart. Thruster placement requires a bit of trial and error, but you may be able to learn tonnes from a builder who has competed many ship designs.
  11. Agreed. I appreciate Ohm's ideas and exoeriences. When building small, i like to use "centering" snaps, and also use 0.10. Almost always, using 0.05 winds up being a problem. I will only use 0.05 for veneers and edge finishes, and NEVER for core components.
  12. I like many of the suggestions, but i also appreciate the value of "designing" quality ships. Even my large builds 12+ slots, and my half built Tie Fighter (15 Slots) are highly mobile and turn quickly. So, any "restriction" or "prescription" that limits my design and creativity to optimize my ships would just piss me off. Anyone that can build well, deserves the freedom of what genius and engineering brings: Advantage in combat ... Cheers
  13. I wonder what others think of this suggestion ... We have the regular galaxy mode ... We have Creative Mode, with unlimited sandbox, basically, but all-in-all a full galaxy. My suggestion for a third mode is a single purposed build mode. This universe would have all the features of normal Creative Galaxy with these exceptions 1 sector only Infinite resources and cash - much like Creative Similar funtions in all respects Just optimized for building ships. So ... Effectively, no random events, no enemies, no travelling sales ships, no merchants, and no quests Just ship building. Rationale: fewer issues for a lengthy build. Maybe the single sector would be defaulted with a slightly higher level of illumination? Any other thoughts? Chee s
  14. Interesting thread, and a worthy topic ... i have been away from the forums and away from the game for weeks now. BUT - i still hold a high interest in the game. Soneone else already mentioned that as the game develops, things change - and i am happy the game is being expanded and improved. However, i am not too keen on experiencing each nuance, as the devs evolve the game. In the end, i will definitely return, and look forward to playing in a mighty alliance. So, numbers are dropping off? Myah ... So what. Its all part of the process in building a game And Avorion stands out as a sound game with great potential. To the devs ... Thank you!! I am an avid fan !! Warr :)
  15. Just bumping this request for ThedamnGod
  16. In the next few days, Dad, I will be ready to send you my complete fleet. I have since added to this group, in the picture below. Cheers 8)
  17. And thank you everyone who voted in the Poll. I have started my work on the Tie Interceptor. Once done, my Tie Interceptor will have fifteen (15) upgrade slots - as well, a high maneuverability is my goal too. By the way, I am modulating the build of my Tie Interceptor ... I am using the standard style wing pods (as per below), but for mass I had to go with a different body style. The body style is sort of like the second photo (below) Have a look at my inspiration sources ... Cheers ;)
  18. TheDamnGod [Moderator] Could you please remove the POLL from this thread? Thank you
  19. Wow, Fox !! Great ships. Love the fleet presentation !! By the way, Dad ... well done !! ;) ;D 8) Cheers
  20. Here is the CSS Archer (from Renegades, I think). I love the look of this ship ... but I am not going to take this one on. At the moment, I am working on a massive, Interceptor Tie Fighter with 15 upgrade slots. I think there may have been a few millenium falcons done, but here is a sketch for anyone who wants to tackle another version. Cheers
  21. Well, Blondersheel, I look foward to seeing the result of your efforts. I will eagerly watch for your post. :)
  22. I found one posted Tie Fighter This link will take you to Domanating's posted ships. His Tie Fighter is in this post http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,1794.msg8776.html#msg8776 Did anyone else find any other examples?
  23. Very nice, great work, Dad. Looking forward to more :)
