  1. that sounds cool, but not really the same as my suggestion, which is to have randomly generated content made by players, waiting for you to be found.

when you add stuff from the workshop, you always know exactly what you get no?  :)

still, it's definitely a start, maybe can be expanded in later patches.

  2. Theres already a way to upload your ships. Just share their files on this forum

Why not just add the ability for NPC ships to use the template of a ship you downloaded/saved. That way you can do it choose your own ships. That's what starmade does

As for faction looks, that's already going to be a thing

then only those who are active on the forums would get the extra content?

and judging from the activity here, is not that many, compared to the total number of players.

having such a feature in game, would be an incentive for many to spend more time building their ship, and not only those who are active on forums. which is usually a quite small (but vocal) percentage.

  3. yeah that'd be cool too. i like the fact that they're randomly generated, but could definitely be supplemented by player built ships too.

would also help make the factions look more unique and varied. and perhaps decrease the rate of 'long stick' ships a bit  :D

  4. 1. It would make the entire current looting system obsolete. This loot system is a very important aspect of Avorion that makes it fun, you can always find a better weapon.

    ...

That being said, there are plans to make weapons (and fighters) more customizable. I'm planning:

    - Custom models for weapons (and fighters on that matter)

    - Custom models for turrets

    - Better scaling for turret sizes (the current turrets-not-scaling-issue is actually a bug, but I want to address it at the right time so I don't have to change it twice)

    - Turret templates so you can copy turrets you've built or looted

Totally agree, I fully enjoy the looting aspect of this game, please do not remove that. All for customizing what you find, but please don't replace looting with crafting.

  5. Looking on youtube and the forums, you can see that people build a lot of cool ships.

I think there is an opportunity here to 'freely' add some fun content to the game.

Lets say there was an 'Upload ships' button in the main menu of the game, where you could view, and upload ships (and stations) that you built.

These ships could then be used by you (devs) to create for example mini bosses ingame.

Not true bosses, but sort of like a rare boss in Diablo or Path of exile.

Simply take some cool ships, equip with some fun weapons, and have them generated into the game.

For example, a pirate ambush could now be made into a "defeat the x pirates boss" where you'd have to clear one or more sectors of pirates, once they felt threatened enough, the boss would appear.

The boss would have improved drop rates of rare loot, and upon defeating him, a message could be displayed along the lines of:

"You defeated the boss X. Ship created by player Y"

  6. I realize this game still is in ea, and game balance and content is subject to change, tho i do have a few suggestions.

I've sunk about 40h into this game and enjoyed every hour. As i get closer to the center of the galaxy, i do feel that things progresses to rapidly. When you started out, it felt 'big' to go from iron to titanium. Progressing further, it just felt like i hardly had time to finish building my titanium ship, when it was time to upgrade to the next tier.

The game is built on procedurally generated content, i think you're a bit too generous at dishing that content out. To the point where you stop caring.

Hence less is more in the topic. I think, slowing the pace down a bit would benefit the game. For example the sheer number of factions, make you not really care about any one faction. If you bump into one where your rep is too low, you just warp a few times, and you'll sure met another which you have better reputation with.

I think reducing the number of factions in any given game by 50%, and increasing the average faction territory by 100% would generate a more enjoyable game pacing.

It would also make it feel more meaningful improving your rep with the factions.

The same could be said for events and sector features. E.g pirate ambushes, sellable asteroids, scrapyards, turret factories, stashes and so on. If these were more uncommon, it would feel 'bigger' when you did find them.

May or may not affect your performance.

    Installation

Open the archive, enter desired folder (medium or plenty), drop stars.frag into (installfolder)/data/shaders and overwrite.

You may want to backup stars.frag first.
