  1. I decided to upload this ship, alongside two other Freelancer models. I haven't played the game in ages, but started it up and realized I still had the models. They're now on the Steam workshop "Freelancer Liberty Cruiser" "Freelancer Rhino" "Freelancer Starflier" http://steamcommunity.com/id/phoenixstar117/myworkshopfiles/?appid=445220 Beware their age... I haven't tested them in the latest version of the game.
  2. Hi, I have access to a fairly powerful Server computer, its specs are here: Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2630 v2 @ 2.6GHz 1 TB Hard Drive 30gb RAM 10gb/s Network Speed =No GPU= To begin my list of problems, the first major one is the odd connection problems. See, I started the server so me and a friend of mine who lives about 10 miles away could play together. He used to connect just fine, had no problems, entered system with massive battles going on and no lag. However, when I entered a system with a major battle suddenly I would get 1000+ ping, which would slowly build up until it was over 1 million ping. And then, when I left the server, the server itself would crash. I know it isn't my internet speed, and I for certain know it wasn't my server... yet none of that makes sense... especially the crashing part. Now today after a routine server restart (as I have to keep restarting it or else the server crashes on its own by all the lag), my friend cannot join... as in the server crashes when he logs in. >Now, a possible reason behind this could be my port forwarding situation. As I said, I have access but do not own the server computer. I was given a few forwarded ports and access to RAM allocation. Which means I cannot forward the '27000' and '27003' ports. I simply ignored this and just changed the default network port to the one of the ones I have forwarded, '58532.' As me and my friend can join the server using that port, I imagine it should be working fine. The reason I think it might be a problem is the server log which lists a whole lot of errors related to not being able to access steam, and having to revert to TCP and other errors. I do have the port '58532' firewall access through both UDP and TCP. >I tried disabling and enabling all the Network options, but with no change. The most recent log is here, including a crash when my friend joins: http://www.mediafire.com/file/0a1zi1dd88d9eii/serverlog+Sat+Jan+28+13-45-22+2017.zip
  3. So whilst reading the description for this game, I noted that you had a part about the game being like Freelancer, "Avorion takes sandbox aspects from games like X or Freelancer." And I would have to agree as many of the basic mechanics in the game do reflect a lot on Freelancer, from jump gates to mouse steering. So, taking this into consideration I thought it might be fitting to try and throw together a ship from Freelancer, so here is the Liberty Siege Cruiser! The style is purposely blocky to help fit in with the rest of the ships in the game (totally not because I just didn't want to have to figure out all those curves and circles in a voxel-based game xD ). She is quite fast and entirely made of Titanium (except a relatively large Trinium Hyperdrive). Although, she does require a massive crew to get working efficiently; but still manages on a skeleton crew.
  4. So I bought a ship, deleted all its parts but I cannot build. I also cannot use any of the re-sizing keys (it simply does nothing.) Any ideas of why? (And by cannot build, I cannot use the left mouse button to place blocks on my ship)
  5. Umm no, I usually keep my videos shared on Tumblr or Twitter. However I do see how posting on Reddit would be beneficial to both me and you. But I have not really used Reddit before, so I'll have to see about looking it over. Now gaming sites, I am not sure. Sometimes you can get allot of negative feedback from spammers or trolls on those sites... However for the sake of sharing this amazing game, I do see how it would get the word around.

  8. I was thinking, how about we have a forum post in here dedicated to sharing videos we have made on youtube of Avorion. So if you have a series, just reply with a link or a video or something of each video of the series. This benifits you and the game as for one, the game gets more popular from the actual video, and the Avorion players here can enjoy your videos as well. =DO NOT POST ANY VIDEOS HERE NON-AVORION RELATED=
  9. Yea that was probably it. I have noticed the server staying on even after the game shuts down.
  10. So I have a youtube channel and decided to make a new series on this awesome game so yup :)
  11. So this is a bug I noticed while trying to switch to a different galaxy. So I made a new galaxy, did some stuff, everything was great and then quit. Today I created a new world for my youtube channel and loaded it up, recorded a great video, got off. Then a few hours later (or now) I tried to play the other world, the non youtube one and it loaded up but it was the youtube one? What? So at first I thought I may have clicked the wrong one and loaded it but I checked a few times and both have seemed to be converted to the same galaxy, same ship, same sector, same save. Its almost like the youtube save over writ the other save. Have you experienced this before or is it just me?
  12. I am not saying I just want to cheat and all but I just would like a way to sit back and experiment with different ship designs and stuff without having to spend hours mining. Now I love to main aspect of the game, the mining, the exploring, the salvaging... But I have a thing for just sitting back and experimenting with the games I play and having a sandbox mode or creative mode where you can sit back and just build with unlimited resources, just to have a little fun with what you can do or to find new ship ideas for a legit save. Either way this is both a question and a suggestion. Thanks!
  13. I realize that image was a bit small so I made it a bit bigger.
  14. Here is the image of the X symmetry being slightly of centered. Also I know that the center via the center of what looks like the center of the ship because first the camera aligns there and second that's where the cockpit part of the ship is centered.
  15. So I first of have to congratulate you on making such an amazing game just for the fun of it as your sites description says, I mean honestly only 5 euros? That's a steal! Normally a game like this would cost around 15 euros or 25 euros. And as a side note I HIGHLY suggest you get this game on STEAM when its finished or close to finished. Now to the bugs! So these are no game breaking bugs but the first one that you probably have noticed yourself, but encase you have not... Whenever I enter a new sector, the ship seems slightly out of place and I can even see the cursors off in the distance, so I move the ship a little and BAM it moves to a new spot and then everything works fine from there. This does not really break anything but its still something to look into. Next, sometimes when building a ship I will try to activate the X symmetry mode and the line marking the X position is a few bits off from the actual center. I have had this happen a few times with some bigger ships of mine but not so far in my little ships. Now this is also not game breaking but it is slightly annoying especially to OCD people like me. Last, this is something I have only seen once and may just be a one time thing but while exploring in a scout ship I came across some unarmed pirates and well as my scout was armed with strong weapons decided to engage. While attacking one of the large transport like ships I noticed I was doing no damage, and that the weapons seemed to go right through it. So I flew up to it and found I was able to fly through the enemy ship as if it was not there, and then out of the blew upon finding a part of the ship I COULD shoot, and then ramming it, the ship seemed to teleport a few dozen meters and then stabilize into a physical form I could shoot. This might have some connection to the first bug I listed but I am not sure, it seemed to be a similar case. Either way I have only seen this bug once so it might have just been a glitch but either way it might also be worth checking out. Anyways I hope this helps and I will continue to play this amazing game and be sure to report any more bugs I find as because this game seems to be in development there's a large chance of bugs, and must again congratulate you on making it so well even for a dev build as those of the hours and hours of gameplay are the only bugs I have encountered. So yup that's the end of this post, amazing work again and please do keep the work going on! I'll be sure to help spread this game around as it defiantly needs more attention and is receiving to little for your amazing work you have done on it. (And as a side note you better be working for a game company as a high ranking employee because if you can make this game on your own just so people can have fun, you defiantly should be respected for your amazing programming and art skills!)
  16. What certain 3d file? The instanced3D.vert But it does not matter, turns out the game was not actually playing through the Nvidia and instead the Intel, so with some editing I got it to stay on the Nvidia. Then it crashed again. So I tried full screen and BAM it works fine. The game loads up, the LAN works so I can play with my brother. Amazing game by the way, amazing work you have done. But yep its all sorted out, just have to play the game using the Nvidia and in fullscreen and it works fine. Also deleting the instanced3D.vert makes the game error crash in the newer version, but seems to make the game work in the older version for me.
  17. By crash I mean the game completely shuts down, no warning nor error, just quits out. Ill get the clientlog in a little bit as I fully deleted the game the other day. As a side note though, for some reason the older version (5.5) works if I delete this certain 3d file.
  18. By galaxy I mean a save or such. See the game installed correctly. It loaded up correctly, music and all. I then click on single-player, new, etc until it gets to the loading screen. It has the loading screen, nice tip at the top and a nice background... Then about five or eight seconds later BOOM, crash. I have re-installed the game several times, updated my drivers, etc. But nothing fixes the problem. See the thing that really boggles my mind is my brother has the exact same laptop (Alienware M14X R1) with the same drivers, and yet it works fine for him. Game loads the galaxy just fine and he already has a nice ship and such, meanwhile I am stuck with the loading screen and crashes. COMPUTER SPECS (Just so you can have a look...): RAM: 8gb Processor: Intel® Core i5-2430M - 2.40Ghz - Duel Core System: Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Graphics Card Used to Run Game: Nvidia GeForce 555m Side Notes: When the game crashes the programs "Launcher.exe" and "SpaceServer" stay open inside the Task Manager, programs that start upon starting the game. Inside my brother's game settings the shader tab has multiple choices, mine only has low. Thanks for reading this and if you got a answer please do tell me! Me and my brother have spent hours trying to get the game to work with no luck and are really down about it. So any help or ideas, please do tell me! (P.S. I have tried running in Administrator, moving the file location, and mucking with system compatibility)
