  1. Sergeants and Lt. you can assign from generic crew, Commanders and Generals must be hired from stations.
  2. Agreed with such a change being a bad idea. For my argument, as someone with access to all material tiers, I prefer building with Trinium (the lightest material) when I don't specifically need another material, to keep mass down as much as I can.
  3. The script itself is quite nice, but I've found there is such a thing as too big of an automated salvage ship, cause of how AI ships fly, combined with knife fight range of salvage turrets.
  4. I've seen the same thing with salvaging ships (wreckage and otherwise), it appears you need to be close enough for your ship to hoover up the floating ores, otherwise they'll just float off a bit before stopping.
  5. Higher material turrets are usually higher tech level, as well, but I've managed to wind up with lower tier material turrets just as big, or bigger, than higher material tier turrets.
  6. Game is a bit funky about when you apply main engine thrust. Any speed you have is converted to forward momentum/speed when you do so, how quickly depending on mass and possibly other things. Basically, flipping and trying to apply braking thrust with engines doesn't work cause of this, and you'll actually need to stack even more thruster panels if you want any decent to good braking power.
  7. My own observation is that the higher the tech level of the turret, the more crew is needed for that turret, and the larger it is. Turrets of 2-3 crew are small, 4-5 is middling, by 7 crew, the turrets are getting fairly large.
  8. I found the number for the next slot appears to change when computer cores are added. Wasn't paying close attention to it though.
  9. I've not tested it beyond finding they appear to have quickly diminishing returns, past those first two slots. Can get 1 extra slot with relatively little, 2nd with a bit more, but that 3rd is going to take a significant investment in materials and ship mass/volume to get. Current ship I'm running with, I did that only cause I was going big anyway. Should it continue as I suspect, a 4th slot from computer cores at this point would mean most of the ship is computer core. 10 slots total on that thing already.
  10. While I haven't yet tried diving into building stations, I've found it immensely rewarding to destroy then salvage pirate and Xsotan, effectively unlimited resources, plus the loot they drop. The faction wars are rather annoying, yes, was actually about to see if there is actually a way to wipe out a faction, perhaps attacking their HQ station (yes, those appear to be a thing).
