I am greatly enjoying Avorion. I grabbed it from Steam on Jan 25th and have abandoned all other games. This is quite possibly the one game I have been waiting for my whole life. I'll share a few of my builds as I play through.

First one is the Xoiafain.

Her captain Nolan was tired of the quick milk run style jobs that the faction military had contracted his motley crew to complete. So he proposed to the crew that they abandon the safety of the sector and race off to the galactic center and adventures expected therein. Only a few agreed to the voyage knowing it was likely to end with their deaths or being collected by the military after they ran out of fuel and were stranded. The brave adventurers then sold the freighter that was their livelihood and bought the Xoiafain. She wasn't much at first but the crew knew they would be working day and night to get her flying and then maintaining her along the journey.

After months of work they were ready to depart. The captain sat on the bridge mentally noting the creaks a groans of the ship as the engines moaned to life. Hyper-drive spun up and the crew held their breath waiting for the first jump. Vin the navigator danced his fingers along the controls making adjustments as the calculations completed and the computer announced ready with a simple green icon on the controls. Looking back to the captain the navigator received a simple nod. With a tap of the control, a flash of light from the engine, and whirr from the fight shield the Xoiafain vanished into the blackness in a second. Leaving only a tumbling piece of debris behind. A simple primary buffer panel.

The first few weeks the Xoiafains' crew worked on building up the systems on-board but a month in arriving in one of the outer sectors of the faction the ship shuttered violently as they slowed the hyperdrive. Vin managed to avoid smashing into the station in orbit and bring the Xoiafain into the shipyard. The missing primary buffer panel had allowed damage to the hyper-drives control systems. Thankfully they were in luck and began the week long efforts to replace and repair. Days in however Xsotan ships appears in sector. The Xoiafain was hopelessly, hilariously outgunned and so the crew rushed the repairs. As Vin attempted to calculate a jump the system continued to error out. Captain Nolan entered a few calculations of his own and ordered Vin to jump. The Xoaifain accelerated out of the fight narrowly missed by Xsotan plasma.

Alarms rang and the ship lurched as the crew of the Xoiafain held on tight while the gravity panels failed. Vin attempted to correct the jump calculations but the ship was out of control as result of the un-finished repairs.

After what seemed to be days The ship began to slow as the hyper-drive core overloaded and failed. Thrusters brought the Xoiafain to a stop. Systems began to come to life as the generators took over for the core. The sensors output impossible data to the display as the Captain and Vin tried to figure out where they were. The harrowing jump to saftey had landed them outside charted sectors of their faction. The only thing near was a wormhole.

The crew began the repairs using what was aboard from the shipyard before they departed. A week passed and the Xoiafain was ready to jump again. No sooner had they spun up the drives and began calculations, when a Xsotan marauder arrived in range and began to open fire. Knowing that they would be outmatched in a fight and outstripped in a race Captain Nolan ordered the only hope they had, "Vin, get us into that wormhole NOW!" Years of working together Vin obeyed and plotted the course. As the hull shuttered from rounds shot by the marauder they slipped into the event horizon of the wormhole. While in the wormhole the crew watched as they again were left without control. Blackness unlike any other was all that could be seen. Then blinding light from an all too close star as they exited the wormhole. The Xoiafain seemed whole and Vin began searching for safety knowing the marauder would be right behind them if they braved the trip, when he realized the wormhole was gone. "Sir there is no sign of the wormhole. It's gone." The Xoiafain floated in an unknown system glistening bright in the light of an unknown sun.

Posting the images of the newest upgrade and going to be finishing the story. Couldn't wait to post the upgrade. ;D
