Issue with research tech level?

So i may be wrong but what seems to be the case is that the closer you are to the center of the galaxy, the higher tech level items you get back from research stations? Can anyone confirm this? If im wrong, which i probably am, whats the best way to get 52 tech legendary?

Yes, research tech level depends on distance from the core. As far as I know, 52's only come from drops at the center. I did have a friendly turret merchant drop by during the boss fight once, don't recall what he was selling though. In my galaxy, there are no green dots for about a 40-sector radius from the core, and the closest research stations all give tech 47 stuff. I did find a couple turret factories that make 48's, but researching them into 47's gave much better stats. Usually. I think there's a bit of the old RNGesus at work.

Difficulty also effects this. On my max difficulty game the tech level is rather high even near start area, and the turrets are beastly... for reference my ship is just starting to use trinium but has 8000om attack power.

Get into the Mod section, and get the mod to build own research station.

Then build a research station next to 0,0.
