  1. I've completed the quest after deleting it at the same point. I think I had to go to a different smuggler station and accept the mission from there. There's a Bottan smuggler at every smuggler station, fret not. I may have had to dump the items you bring the "friend" before it would work, and definitely get rid of the module if it gave it to you. I remember finding Bottan by just doing the Easy Delivery mission again, after getting the module.
  2. I've killed it about 10 times, and am under the impression it doesn't respawn until you leave the core and return.
  3. I don't think so, I deleted all the panels from my solar plant and it still works just fine. If you want more product just build another plant next to it.
  4. I decided to eradicate a faction who stopped me for cargo too many times, but I've been wondering if there's even a mechanic in game to handle this. I'm still getting their headhunters sent after me in systems they used to own, I think. It's a moot point in any case because when I asked where their home system is, it was inside a rift, but still I'd like to know. I did also wonder if taking out their shipyards meant they wouldn't have any new ships. I definitely support bringing the RTS elements into the game.
  5. I find my turrets popping off too, usually during the boss fight at the core. It's almost always the same two turrets, a legendary chaingun and an exotic cannon. It doesn't matter where I place them, which pops my theory that I was somehow shooting them off myself. The boss does have railguns though, which I'm guessing have a chance to penetrate shields. The way it usually happens is I all of a sudden see the yellow 'broken ship' icon pop up out of nowhere when I didn't bump into anything, and I go into the build menu to repair the ship real quick, and when I leave the build menu, the turrets that came off are listed on the right side of the screen along with the materials I used to repair the ship. I don't have any integrity field generators, but the blocks the turrets are placed on are not being blown off, or I'd be losing more than just those two turrets. I have never seen them floating next to the ship when they go, it's more like they're just randomly despawning off of my ship and back into my inventory. So my current theory is that enemy weapons with a chance to penetrate shields are targeting the turrets, and every once in a while they succeed and the turrets get popped off somehow without damaging the block they're placed on.
  6. The way I see it, there are two likely possibilities: the size of the ship you start the station from, or adding onto an existing station. I have like 8 stations so far, all S size, as I don't really need more than 20k cargo space per station. Who can keep those things fed, anyways? Maybe I should just start hanging blocks off one of them, see if it turns into an M. Could either be related to mass or dimensional measurements, so adding a couple 500m long trinium hull blocks might do it, or if it were mass then adding a bunch of avorion stone would be the quickest way. (Ogonite might be massier, I forget atm.)
  7. A few times I've had a bug caused by certain accelerations during a warp, and when you get to the next sector the ship just decides it's moving in a direction like you're pushing WASD buttons when you're not. Warping again didn't fix it but restarting the game did. It sounds like maybe this happened to you and the ship decided to move backwards? And that's why it seemed like the whole sector was moving away from you?
  8. I just push the W key, then jam a penny under the 2 and 3 to hold it down, then go make a cup of coffee or whatever. Old DayZ mountain climbing trick. ;)
  9. Yes, research tech level depends on distance from the core. As far as I know, 52's only come from drops at the center. I did have a friendly turret merchant drop by during the boss fight once, don't recall what he was selling though. In my galaxy, there are no green dots for about a 40-sector radius from the core, and the closest research stations all give tech 47 stuff. I did find a couple turret factories that make 48's, but researching them into 47's gave much better stats. Usually. I think there's a bit of the old RNGesus at work.
  10. I found if I'm really mashing down the space bar when the dialog window hits, it doesn't auto-pay the npc ship, the message plays like normal. The times when it does auto-pay, I'm pushing it lightly, so I just have a worn-out keyboard that's not quite holding connection and that's what is causing this problem. It would be nice if there were a third neutral option besides 'Comply' or 'Ignore' that is highlighted by default, so if your space bar's on the fritz it doesn't do this. Wouldn't have to remap any controls that way. I've seen others complaining about this issue on other forums, so it's not just me with a crappy keyboard. Also, the Bottan's smuggler ship that hangs out by the smuggler stations gives you its mission the same way, hijacking your ship controls, and I've accepted the mission inadvertently a few times the same way I've paid the space police. This seems to cause multiple version of the "A Friend" ship to be waiting for you which I think borked the mission for me, but that belongs in its own thread.
  11. The wiki has a section that says which goods are 'dangerous'. http://wiki.avorion.net/index.php?title=Goods Also, you can tell how much space you have left, if you mouseover the empty space on the right side of the bar in your cargo menu. The size of the black part doesn't change, but the number that pops up does. I've been continuing to play, and to work around this menu bug I find myself dumping huge clouds of cargo to bring later pickups into the visible list, which is simply the first 15 types of cargo you pick up. There is another cargo menu glitch, maybe related, where when you dump a cargo the list doesn't update by removing that cargo from the list. If you then try to dump the cargo below it as well, you wind up dumping the cargo two spaces below the original one you dumped. However, the list does update after the second cargo dumped, and continues to update after that. I deal with this one by exiting and re-entering the cargo menu, which updates the list. Do not dump your cargo by deleting parts of your cargo bay. I've done this, and you're left with a cloud of cargo you can't pick up. You get to watch your processors or diamonds (or warheads) despawn.
  12. That's a great ship you linked, really cohesive design, looks good. Building curves isn't that hard, just use the smallest grid size and the 'match block' function to make your triangles the right size. Here's the tail end of one of my ships, I think my next one might be a big sphere. Hate bonking into things when I turn around. ::)
  13. I have a few mines and a couple stations, the mines all get auto-named Gold Mine, Copper Mine, etc. but the stations are started from a ship. I'll name the ship Semi Conductor Factory at the shipyard, for example, but then when I convert it to a station it gets destroyed. I get the insurance payment for the ship Semi Conductor Factory, and the station is now named Craft 0, Craft 1, etc. I can see from the map screen what stations are in which sector, so it's not like I have to tag the sector so I can remember what's where or anything, it's just kind of bad when I get a message that I've paid the crew of Craft 1 and I'm thinking "Why do I pay these people? What do they do again?"
  14. Yes, they seem to keep taking your money even though they're not working. Space union.
  15. Personally, I'd rather they work on the game than the forum.
  16. After further experimentation, I found the cargo tab in your ship menu (P) can only list 15 different types of cargo. Any types beyond that will be completely inaccessible for dumping/transfer until you remove earlier types of cargo. Worse, having an overloaded cargo menu seems to break the smuggler hideouts' ability to clean the 'stolen' tag off the goods, and it won't buy them either.
  17. When transferring cargo between ships/station using the Transfer Crew/Cargo option, the list of different cargo only shows the first 8 or 10 kinds of cargo you pick up, and also the grey bar at the top stops showing new kinds. The scrollbar lights up when you mouseover it, but it won't move. Your cargo that's not shown is still there, and you can dump it from the cargo tab in the "P" menu to transfer it. Dump near a station to transfer to it from a ship, and dump it from the station then switch to your ship to pick it up. Quickly, before an npc ship picks it up... Win7, 3570k, GTX670, 1920x1080 resolution, could be relevant.
  18. Yes, I have these problems too. The scrollbar doesn't seem to be functioning in the Transfer Cargo window. I've found that your cargo is still there, just not listed. To access it you need to get your first cargo out of the way. If you look at the top bar that represents your entire cargo hold, with empty space on the right, it shows your empty space when you mouseover it. The number goes down as you pick up cargo beyond the first nine or ten kinds, and once it's full you can't pick up any more, so the bug doesn't affect your actual cargo capacity, just the interaction menu. The one click per transfer thing is real nasty though. I generally dump cargo near stations to give it to them, and you can dump cargo from the stations and pick it up with your ship to get it back. Either UI buttons for more cargo transferred at a time, or even Shift+click 10 at a time, Shift+Alt+click for 100 at a time. Ctrl+Shift+Alt+click for 1000? ;D Another solution could be an amount field you enter a number into, like how you buy or sell things.
  19. 3 times now I've been boosting, holding down the space bar, and some frigate or another decides to extort me for my naughty cargo, and I just see a flurry of menus and then I've paid them whatever amount. It's cost me a couple million so far, and also a bunch of faction rep when I destroy the frigate afterwards. Also, it's pretty brutal drifting in whatever direction you happen to be going when the message pops up. I've bounced off other ships and asteroids but haven't lost a ship to it yet. Maybe having the extortion message popup work like the introductory hint messages would solve both problems; it would let you aim in a safe direction and let off the space bar before you hold shift to use the pointer.
  20. Aha, found it, in the server.ini file: l8Z4s0hDzxT
  21. Is there any way to find your seed after playing for a while? My home sector has a large group of friendly pirates, and a pretty steady stream of cargo ships that slowly fly right through them and get shot and die, dropping their cargo, and there are two smuggler stations about 5 sectors south for laundering the goods. I got rich pretty quick. Downside is the pirates are strict, they'll stop you for the stolen cargo. Another downside is it does have medium thick yellow fog.
