New Severe Performance Issues

I've been able to play Avorion a little bit, and so far, I love it, but I have run into a huge issue.

I was playing the game normally without any issues until I placed shield blocks on my ship. Every time the shields did the shimmering effect, my framerate would drop to near 0 until the effect ended and my framerate returned to normal (about 30-40. Not sure exactly, never checked). I decided to update my graphics drivers. After doing so, now when entering any galaxy, the framerate remains extremely low (0-1 FPS).

Looking in the log file, it seems that one particular error pattern repeats extremely frequently. This, combined with the fact that performance was fine before (with the exception of the shields animation) leads me to believe that this is a bug and not incapable hardware.

SP server log: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwCZnyVOnXRYbVcwOEFkV2huWDg

System:

Windows 7 SP1

Intel Core i5 2450M Quad Core @ 2.5GHz

8 GB RAM

AMD Radeon HD 7670M

Drivers I am now using:

https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/3476?b=1

Choose Windows 7 64 bit

VGA Driver: Vendor: AMD

For me to reproduce it, I only need to:

Start Avorion

Start any galaxy, SP or MP

Once game world has been loaded, quit.

Log file generated shows massively repeated errors (several MB in size).

I tested this on an older desktop of mine (Windows 7 SP1, AMD Dual Core CPU @ 3.2GHz, 4 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6790) and it generates the same error messages in its logs.

What I have done so far:

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Avorion.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Steam.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers.

None of this has changed the performance. I haven't even been able to get back to the previous low-fps-only-on-shield-effect state.

Update:

After doing more research I found some other bug reports consisting of identical errors in their logs.

For me, I have never crashed, only have been experiencing super low fps. My log files are only 10-40MB, but then again, I'm spending a very small amount of time in game before quitting. From Kilgenmus' log file I can see that he too has an AMD graphics card, so perhaps there is an issue with the way the game interfaces with AMD drivers?

OK, cool. Glad to hear it. Just wondering whether you mean the huge error logs, or the fps-drop-when-shields-activate thing, or both?

I was experimenting with trying out alternative drivers last night and after trying AMD's drivers instead of the OEM's then the game returns to its fps-drop-when-shields-activate state. At least it makes the game semi-playable, but it's impossible to do any kind of combat since the shields will stay on, and therefore the super low fps.

More info on this fps-drop-when-shields-activate thing, now that I can properly observe it:

Now that I have AMD's drivers, the log file generates none of those error messages (see attachment).

The shields of other ships either don't have the same effect, or have a much less severe effect.

FPS normally remains between 30-60

When shields shimmer passively, or activate when being fired upon, FPS drops to between 2-8 for the duration and returns to normal immediately afterwards.

Zooming out does not help.
