Neonin
Thought it might be nice to have a topic where we can talk about what we've been up to in the game, relate any amusing anecdotes, discuss interesting things that happened or that we've seen, and so forth. Mainly so I can start with: Today I built a naonite hyperspace jumper in my starting sector to travel back to where I had been, because last night I took the NCS Cougar (my main ship at that point) nose first into an asteroid I didn't see coming... at full boosted speed. Needless to say the explosion was immediate! Managed to get back fast enough to reclaim all my turrets and upgrades, then shoved some salvaging lasers on the mining pet I'd had with me (still sitting in a nearby sector) and salvaged what I could from my wreck. Asteroids hurt people! So, what did you do in Avorion today?
DivineEvil
Today I was mostly stuck in my Creative game. Was making remarks on what factories require what materials and where to get those. Gosh, the current economy system is way too extreme, so much redundancy... While doing that, pirates destroyed some of my stuff, so I've bought a large Xanion pro-generated ship in the nearest shipyard. Funny enough, Xanion ships built by Shipyards do have Xanion armor ;D Filthy cheaters. After that, I've quickly built a Sentinel-class Medium Defense Frigate for use in my legit SP game: Need more shiny lights, but that'll have to wait. More or less satisfied, I've gone to do some RL work.
Hardcors
I know this is a bit late, but today I designed a new armor and started to apply it to my ship.
Neonin
Not late at all, this is supposed to be a continual thing. Both the ships posted look great, two completely different design philosophies but still looking amazing. Gotta love the ship builder in this game! Today I took the plunge and joined a multiplayer server. Seems nice, people are friendly enough, and it's pretty popular as I had to wait a while this evening before I could get on. Made myself a basic line of cubes with the starting resources they give you and hyperspaced my way to trinium areas, then started building my empire... Got a miner and my main combat ship up and running, so next it's time to gather some more modules and explore the surrounding area!
War Viper
Today I found a computer component factory that had a shortage of microchips and there was a microchip factory only 10 kilometers away! Needless to say I became a millionaire in a very short amount of time.
SageThe13th
I've been crashing ships into asteroids to see if claims about IFGs not working as intended are true or not. They seem to be working as stated.

Pyrotech51
Just finished the core sections on a 7.5mil volume ship, with the modules I have installed, it comes in at ~250K health, and just over 1mil in shields. The top speed is somewhere around 1.5km/s, and I've succeeded in boosting it to 6km/s (though that's just asking for trouble in something this size :P). Really, the thing that makes me happiest though is the 40K continuous DPS it has in ~5.5km lasers (which have auto targeting), and 50K+ burst in 11.5km Railguns (every 10 seconds). I've yet to find an enemy that takes longer than 5-10seconds to shred, and picking off the smaller ones with the railguns while the lasers kill anything that comes close is really satisfying. Still not totally happy with the aesthetics though... the bridge just looks off somehow :(.
Enzo Matrix
For me today... I modded the Xsotan lol Now I am just stuck trying to get the game to drop tech levels 1-18 from max distance to 350, 18tech - 42 tech from 350-150 distance and 42 tech-75 tech once you breach the core. Right now I can only get it to go from 1-75 in a linear from 500-0 distance rather than have it split into sections which is resulting in tech 52 by 152 distance and thats to much for me personally at that stage. I rather 42 by the ring.
CRZYSPACEDIAMOND
I have done one of the most exciting things that avorion had to offer, building a massive carrier and destroying enemy factions with fighters. I love this concept and I think the concept of Carriers should be expanded upon as in building your own fighters, and some fighters can commit suicide if they have low health. AKA Kamikaze Fighters. SadisticSweety
Tonight, for the first time, all my friends and I, lined our ships up and raced an 80km stretch. I was last place. My ship needs to go on a diet :(
Brigadon
I tried to salvage a broken ship in the galactic core, that was so large it literally took me like 2 minutes to fly along it's length. after sitting down to have lunch while leaving my autosalavagers burning, I came back after an hour to find myself surrounded by dead ships, and the big wall of avorion had not even reduced it's bar by a visible fragment. But I do know that after clearing off just a little spike on the end (Looked like a bridge or something, and the little spike was 3x the size of my class 12 ship) I went from about 20k avorion to like 4 mill. Tank_Man
Well, wanted to record this somewhere before I forgot. This was technically last night in my single player game. See, currently I've got what might be classified a Destroyer. She's not the biggest ship, or the fanciest, but I'm planning on building her up to a Battleship sooner or later. My problem last night was, I was near the outer edge of the Galactic Core, using an upgraded Radar to search for hidden mass sectors, so I could mine more Xanion and Trinium. Only to discover this particular sector was hidden because it was a base of operations for a group of pirates. Pirates who had roughly three Battleships and a mixed bag of Destroyers and Cruisers on top of the usual small fries pirates field, *and* a shipyard to boot. Now I didn't think much of it since...well, before, I made up for being outnumbered by outgunning anything I came across by a large degree. The problem lay in all the ships here possessing shielding I wasn't breaking through in any timely manner whatsoever. So after wrecking roughly three of their Cruisers they had my shields completely drained. Rather than eat any costs for repairs at that point I, and I quoth the Yahtzee, 'ran like a man in an expensive suit from a Teppanyaki restaurant' to a new, more quiet sector to recuperate and try easier prospects. That was when I got the "subspace signals" alert. I didn't think much of it and just continued mining away. Then I got the secondary alert warning me that the subspace signals were overwhelming my scanners. That was when I got the evil idea...and quickly warped back to the pirate base. See, I'm thinking the Xsotan at this time decided to send a larger fleet due in part to earlier having sent a small group while I was dancing the Foxtrot with Charlie the pirates, only to get overwhelmed by all the pirate ships as well. This time they came out in force, of which I gave a wide berth to while the pirates came in to engage them...leaving me free to destroy the pirate's Shipyard, a gaggle of reinforcements, and a few more Cruisers that came my way before I was free to fly back and wail on the two remaining Battleships while both they and their escorts were occupied by the Xsotan. By the time the pirates had the Xsotan beaten down to scrap there was little else the pirates had left that could muster enough resistance against my Destroyer, letting me make semi-swift work of them. And then the sector and all those Trinium-rich pirate ships were miiiiine. Mwahahahahaha! ...and then not even a fourth of the way through my pillaging I just had to get drawn off by a fake distress signal only to come back to find all my scrap gone. Still, I thought this encounter good fun and funny enough to share so...
Enzo Matrix
I forgot to post.. but I ended up having the craziest xsotan spawn ever. Should be a steam achievement for destroying an enemy with over 100k fire power haha I even got one of his weapons, a 5.5k omnicron railgun only uncommon to. Insanity! McFurious
Just started playing yesterday and today I found one of these. :o Took me about 15 straight minutes to mine about half of it and then a bunch of pirates showed up. My ship was fragile and it's two chainguns were barely chipping their paint so I had to abort the mission. I still got away ~12k titanium so my ship is about to get beefed up. I marked the sector so as soon as I find some bigger guns I'm going back there to slaughter all of them.
lmss1994
Today in Avorion I finish filling up the station with 5000 mechanics (the orange pixel in the center is the mining drone, and the ships next to the station are of 6 to 7 system sluts) Now I'm wondering how should i classify the station ,what should be it's name and possibly make a smaller version of it
Fox
finding out how to make these beautiful rotating thingys everyone uses here! :D otherwise i could tell i got shredded to tinytiny bits by the MAD Energy Base... seemed to be real mad at me... need a bigger ship! AURAequine
Well I found a smugglers hideout to unbrand some goods that I.. Found.. But the trade script crashed or something, apparently because I had more than 15 types of items and it could only view 15.. So I warped to the next sector and made a "Storage cache" to store everything but 15 stole- erm.. borrowed goods.. Unbranded them and then did that a couple times until all the goods were unbranded so I can sell all of their.. Ermm.. My things at their regular places.. Heheh :P Apparently the dumping and collecting of thousands of items crashed my friend's server though.. So that's not too good.. :/
McFurious
Was probably deeper in space than I should have been and I was about to leave when I found a scrap yard and a couple factions decided to have a huge battle so I stuck around to watch the fireworks. And also pick up the scraps... This turned out to be a bad idea because a stray shot took out my whole ship and all my stuff in ONE HIT. :'( All my blues, golds, and a purple NSTK item... Can you go back to the system you died in and get your stuff back?
Alpha393
I uhh... may or may not have... started and instantly finished a genocide with three misfired cannon balls... uhh... blowing up the entire living quarters of what was either an ark ship or a very big cargo hauler. Whatever it was, it's now fully integrated into my borg cube Tetris from hell. Actually that's not a bad way to describe my ship. Ah the joys of abandoned frigates just begging to be stolen and lobotomized for use as the bridge of a mobile fortre- *ahem* repurposed.
howardxu23
Found a total of 3 bosses within 5 sector jumps Jumping about to find THE AI, and found him pretty soon. Killed it and gathered the suff, went to fins pirate boss. Found a **** Great Wall of rift blocking my way >:(. Set target to go around it, and as soon as i arrived found another THE AI :o Blew him up, set target to go into a empty area. Found pirate boss first try XDDDDDDD. Decided he is not worthy of a normal death so RAMMING SPEED.
Doc Savage NDMF
Today I found out my AI captain has a drinking problem... He was a dapper man when I hired him, full of energy and raring to go. I gave him my personal ship, the one that had made me millions and sent fear into the hearts of pirate and alien alike. Then he discovered it had no weapons, just a bunch of mining and salvage lasers. It was only later I learned of his crushed boyhood dreams of daring do and all that. I never would have known any of it had I not witnessed his "skill" in the captains chair. At first, he blamed the pilot. I hadn't hired skilled crew, that was why the ship kept ramming everything around it when working. After three pilots, it was the thrusters. After a complete engine and thruster refit it was the controls. After a complete energy and control system overhaul it was the weather. After three systems with nary a dust cloud he was left without excuse. And then he backed into me. My brandy new piece of trinium brick. With a huge dent in the front fender... That did it. Upon searching his locker we found one stash. His room looked like the liquor cargo bay. In actual fact it was the liquor cargo bay... Three bottles were in the cushions of his captains chair and heaven help the ship if there was a fire as every extinguisher slot had been replaced with Folgers Crystals Rum. Hiring a new captain, I thought my days of watching him spend more time moving the ship around than the all the dancers at a ballet recital combined were done. But alas, twas not to be. It appears all of the AI captains suffer from this same malady. They can't just sit still and mine or salvage. Maybe that's why they all drink... Cheers..! KooperChaos
Today in Avorion I've jumped into a yellow blip found myself surrounded by pirates system defence... the shields of my newly constructed frigate could handle them with ease but one of my escorting little mining ships, the BBS Melanie, wasn't so lucky... well I blew up every single pice of pirat s*** including their shipyard in my anger. Now I'am going to build myself two escort ships for the Louise to Byrne these pirates to the ground. One of them will be named "Melanie's Redemption" Anyone red Peter F. Hamilton? By the way is there a possibility to take over a sector owned by pirates?
