McGreeb
Hi there, Fairly new to the game but have been running a small server for me and a friend and I have had this weird problem happen to me twice now. I have built my first carrier type ship and when I log off from the server the system the ship is in gets completely deleted, my friend has had no issues with his ship. When I log back in I am no longer in my ship, everything else in the system (asteroids, wormholes, stations other ships ect...) are completely gone and all the fighters from the ship are gone. I am hosting the server on a small VPS I have. Any idea whats causing this and is there any way to recover the systems lost? Edit: We are using the current main steam release version
Boxelware Team koonschi Posted November 27, 2017 Boxelware Team Share Posted November 27, 2017 First off: When you're not using the steam beta branch, please don't post in the beta forum, I'll move your thread to the bugs section. Second: We need the server logs from that session when something like this happens, follow the instructions here on how to post bugs: https://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,6.0.html

Boxelware Team koonschi Posted November 27, 2017 Boxelware Team Share Posted November 27, 2017 Can you reproduce the problem for other sectors as well? If yes, then I'd need the logs or maybe even your savegame to reproduce the behaviour. Do you have mods installed?
McGreeb
I will see if I can reproduce at some point. I was looking through the logs and noticed this: "2017-11-26 16-33-36| scheduled save for sector (243:-116), 0x7fb14c5ced50, entities: 353 2017-11-26 16-33-36| saving sector (243:-116) 2017-11-26 16-33-36| scheduled save for sector (241:-121), 0x7fb14e7810a0, entities: 1 2017-11-26 16-33-36| sector (243:-116) saved to "/root/.avorion/galaxies/avorion_galaxy/sectors/243_-116"" seems fine. then shortly after. "2017-11-26 16-33-36| FileSecurer error: Reading of file "/root/.avorion/galaxies/avorion_galaxy/sectors/243_-116" failed, moving on to the next instance. McGreeb
Further investigation I found a file named "243_-116.conversion_backup_2017-11-26 16-33-36" in the sectors folder. stopping the server and running: "mv 243_-116 243_-116.old mv 243_-116.conversion_backup_2017-11-26\ 16-33-36 243_-116" has restored the sector in game
