Mining laser stats?

Sorry if this is explained somewhere. I looked in the wiki and the forum, and didn't really see anything.

 

On mining lasers, there's two stats that both say efficiency.

 

Say on this:

 

 

There's a twirly swirly icon next to "Efficiency: 35.4". But then there's a "+13% Efficiency" at the bottom.

 

Is this a 35.4 efficiency turret, or a 48.4% turret?

It's a 35.4 efficiency turret. The +13% efficiency just means that this particular turret has 13% more efficiency than it normally would have.

Damage is how fast it will break the rock.

Efficiency is how much of the ore you'll actually obtain.

 

As an example, let's say an asteroid has 1000 iron ore.

 

If you completely mine it out with a mining laser that has an efficiency of 50, you will only get 50% of the iron. So 500 iron.

If you mine it out with a mining laser that only has an efficiency of 25,you'll only get 25% of the iron. So 250 iron.

 

If you use a mining laser with a higher damage, you can mine out the asteroid faster.
